...the roadhouse blues
The Lonely Ones trio is his roadhouse blues project of the past decade. The Lonely Ones are a powerful force around Southern California and sell records throughout the Americas, Europe, Austrailia and beyond.

...the other projects
Sparked by a 7 year suggestion to write for and/or spend time in Nashville he embarks on his latest study, the roots of country.
A comprehensive catalogue of lyrics is underway and is rallied for submission.
Two months into exploring this new interest Joe is approached by friend Matt Hensley (Flogging Molly's) to collaborate on ol' timey tunes, a side project called Tear in My Beer, with the first performance January 30th.
The next Lonely Ones album to be released in spring 2009.
the story...
Invited to join as lead singer, in 1983, the seminal OC rock band TSOL embarked on a world wide tour and the rest is part of early punk rock history. Collaborating with Mike Roche on Bass, Ron Emory on Guitar and Mitch Dean on Drums TSOL opened for the likes of Guns ‘n’ Roses, X & Soundgarden, recorded SEVERAL top selling albums, made the Top 100 Billboard chart, is featured on MTV and soundtracks a variety of surf, skate and feature films. In 1996, along with drummer Mitch Dean, Joe Wood purchased the trademark names of TSOL & True Sounds of Liberty. With a need to pursue his true loves, Joe leaves the band to explore and study the roots of blues, rock & Mc5 genres. He ocassionally performs TSOL music of this era throughout the Americas.

Over the years, Joe has been privileged to work with amazing musicians. its been an honor to play with each of them and have them record on his records.
Cats like...Mike Malone, Kid Ramos, Dennis Green, Wado, Steve "Sully" O'Sullivan, Gregory "Smog" Boaz, Scott Lambert and so many others. Its been a lot of fun and I have learned so much. They have all made me the blues man that I am today.

His tenacious writing and arrangement style combined with a unique Morrison-like voice will mysteriously journey the audience from one song to the next. Each song has an underlying roots feel that live at the core of each composition, evoking a unique style combined with a powerful performing presence.

Joe Wood has been honored to share the stage and invited to perform with some of the greats including BB King, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker Jr., Ray Manzarek (of the Doors) and George Thorogood.

Influenced by Patty Smith, John Doe, Jim Morrison and the Doors, Albert King, Son House, Bob Marley and Alice Cooper.

To add to the eight recorded albums already on his discography, his current roadhouse blues band, Joe Wood and The Lonely Ones, released the 2004 self-title 'The Lonely Ones' (which has sold over a four thousand albums, to date). The 2006 release 'Blues Out of Long Beach, CA' proves Joe Wood has developed a solid blues style to serve notice to even the most die-hard blues fan. He has learned from the lates and the greats and, once again, breaks the boundaries set...by genre.
