About Me

..
I'm Chris, I'm a Naval Officer by day (for not much longer!) and fun-loving businessman & socialite the rest of the time. I've been in Hampton Roads for nearly 5 years now. I have a sweet house in Suffolk, but spend most my time Ghent and VA Beach. I'm a traveler & adventurer at heart, so I can't wait to get over someday soon to Australia, Central & Western Europe, Asia and Africa for some serious traveling...the Navy's taken me to a lot of cool places, but the world's a big place! I love spontaneous, random fun like jumping in the car on a Saturday morning to go sky-diving on a whim. Or hopping on a plane to London to grab a pint of Strongbow Cider. Or taking a sunny day to go learn kite-surfing down in the Outer Banks. It's ok, I'll settle for a stop at Starbucks too! I am NOT a 9-5 guy, that's one thing the Navy's taught me for sure! I'm working some marketing projects pretty hard on the side...the goal is to NEVER have to submit a resume after the Navy fun is over! I actually really love what I'm doing on the side, it's challenging me in ways I've never been challenged, and I love learning and growing by overcoming those challenges! I have an amazing bunch of close friends spread across the country at this point, I love them all and I pride myself in being incredibly loyal to them. I love being active, running outside, working out at the gym, playing soccer or sailing. I also LOVE learning & reading & improving myself...yes, I'm a full on self-improvement nut, deal with it! Kind of funny coming from a guy who didn't really like "school" all that much, but that's a truly tiny percentage of what's to be learned in life. I am positive and optimistic no matter what, and I'm an intensely passionate romantic at heart.

My Interests

Meeting new, fun, friendly, intelligent, and ambitious people. Recently got into wine a little bit (just a little bit, I can finally tell the difference between Mad Dog 20/20 and a Shiraz!) Love having fun with good friends and new ones, relaxing, traveling, weightlifting, soccer, rugby, running, sailing, tennis, racquetball, learning new things, investing, real estate, business opportunities, film, finding some new adventure to try...

I'd like to meet:

In the dating world, after a bunch of long distance relationships, the dating desert of Hampton Roads finally yielded a great local woman to date! Or rather, a great woman who is local...she was born & raised in Belarus, so "local" isn't quite accurate! She's absurdly smart, gorgeous, ridiculously fun while emotionally mature, and all kinds of other things I'm looking for. Anyways, having a great time dating her.

As for other people, I'm always up for meeting new people and making new friends, life's boring without a nice flow of new, interesting & fun people coming in & out... I'm a huge believer in the power of association, you become who you surround yourself with (don't believe that? just look around yourself). So my best friends and people I surround myself with are positive, optimistic, future-focused, supportive men & women who are going somewhere in life. Lazy, negative, unhealthy, vision-less people aren't invited to the party :)

Music:

Pink Floyd, Amos Lee, Dashboard Confessional, Dave Matthews Band, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Evanescence, Live, Matisyahu, Tim McGraw (I've finally been weakened into liking some country!!)

Movies:

The Secret (www.thesecret.tv, do yourself a favor and watch it, might change your life), Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (go rent that if you haven't already!), American Beauty, Batman Begins, The Rock, Bad Boys II, Black Hawk Down, Face/Off, the Indiana Jones flicks, the Star Wars flicks, Wedding Crashers, Old School, Eurotrip, Very Bad Things (if you love that movie, I like you already!), Last Samurai, the Lord of the Rings flicks, Mean Girls (aka the story of my sister's life!), What About Bob?, the Matrix flicks, Passion of the Christ, Alien 1-3 (we'll pretend 4 never happened), any M. Night Shymalan movie especially Unbreakable, Lost In Translation, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Keeping The Faith, & Ferris Bueller's Day Off.....(yes, I'm a movie buff...though it helped to have a bunch of them sitting in front of me!)

Television:

Only watch a few shows at this point, but they are addictive ones...Heroes, Lost, 24, Family Guy, Arrested Development, my guilty pleasure Nip/Tuck, and Battlestar Galactica (don't knock it till you try it!)

Books:

An outstanding pair of books just got recommended to me, definitely worth reading: Mastery of Love by Don Miguel Ruiz, and The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman...before you laugh, give them a read, really awesome stuff. Also love all the Harry Potters, The Dreamgiver by Bruce Wilkinson, Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, and How To Win Friends & Influence People Dale Carnegie. Oh, and almost anything by Robert Kiyosaki (the Rich Dad, Poor Dad guy).

Heroes:

Bill Clinton (for his intelligence and diplomacy skills, not necessarily for his policies), Colin Powell (why didn't you run for president, damn you!!), and anyone who chases their dreams without fear or a care in the world what anyone else thinks!
