Saber Elrobaay

The Tunisian singer Saber el Rubai has a very nice voice. He is very elegant, sensitive and honest with himself and with his audience. He was born on the 12th of March in Tunisia. Saber started singing when he was twelve years old, encouraged by his family for his father played the Oud and his brother was a singer. Besides singing, Saber plays the Oud and the violin. He started the singing as his profession at 17 years old impressed by great singers among which Mohammad Abd El Wahab, Abd El Kader El Asaly, Wadih Al Safi, Abd El Halim Hafez, Karem Mahmoud. Saber composed some of his songs’ melodies among which the song “Word” (Kalima) with an outstanding rhythm. His work with Hilmi Baker, Salah El Charnoubi and Dr Abd El Rab Idriss was a great success. Great singers such as Sayyed Makkawi and Warda were very impressed by his voice. Composer Hilmi Baker said it was the best voice he ever heard in twenty years. The Arab press considered him as a genuine singer. Saber didn’t quit Tunisian singing but he drifted to Egyptian and Gulf songs to reach fame. Finally, he achieved his goal. In Egypt he passed the test of the committee formed of successful composers among which Hilmi Baker and Sayed Makkawi. His album “Go and Come Back” written by Imad Hassan, Ahmad Chatta and Mohammad Gharib and composed by Mohammad Dia’ el Din and Salah El Charnoubi was very famous among the Egyptian audience. His album “Hayarouni” (They confused me) gained a great success on the market. He collaborated with great composers and poets. The album included “Hayarouni” (They Confused Me ) “Ah Men el Hawa” (Oh Love), “Hom Elli Nesyouna” (They Forgot Me), “Ma Entahena” (We’re Not Over Yet), “Kalima” (Word), “Atazakkarak” (I Remember You), “Hikaya” (Story), “ Men Gher Helfan” (Without Swearing). The Jordanian producer, Hsein Daiibes, produced video clips of his two songs “Hayarouni” and “Atazakkarak” as if they were cinema movies. After becoming a star in Tunisia in 1996, he spread his work to the Arab world through his relationship with Mr Ali El Mawla owner of “Mawla Production”. They both started off in Lebanon, went to the Gulf, to the United States, to Canada and to Australia. His song “Sidi Mansour” opened the doors of the Arab audience to him and he was considered as a great singer. His song “Eez el HabayEb” was also a great success. The tow songs were classified among the first for many months. Mawla Production produced these songs. His song “Sidi Mansour” was the first in the Sales statistics. His latest album “Khalas Tarek” produced in 2001 was as successful as his previous album or even more for it was very fast spread in the Arab world.
