I'm a pretty mediocre guitarist, so I guess noisemaking is a hobby...right? I also play too many computer games for my own good, or at least I would if that were possible to do so, since all of the cool people know it's actually computer games are one of those all-important things that make the sun rise every day.Oh, and beer is an interest, I guess. :p
I'd like to meet:
Mmm...i dunno. Any musicians in Melbourne who are looking for someone to jam with (blues, punk, metal, whatever...) let me know and we might sort something out.
In addition, i'm a libertarian socialist who is pretty uninterested in most of the lefty groups active in Melbourne at the moment (Not mentioning any names...), so if you're a like-minded individual seeking partners in thoughtcrime, contact me. ;)
Apart from that, I don't really care who I happen to meet using this, since i'm pretty laid back like that and i'm not likely to use it excessively anyway. Message me or whatever and i'll probably get back to you in a week or two when I remember to log back on.
Music:
Grunge, stoner/doom metal, post-rock, dark ambient/drone, old-school punk, that sort of crap - but i'm open to almost anything. Why limit myself?
Favourite bands include Nirvana, Kyuss, Sleep, Electric Wizard, Neurosis, Mudhoney, Tool, Rage Against the Machine, 65daysofstatic, Propergol, SunnO))), Earth, the Melvins, Black Sabbath, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Tool, The Pixies, Sonic Youth, Placebo, Refused, Emperor, Stiff Little Fingers, For Squirrels, the Butterfly Effect...and so on, so on.
This is why asking me what my favourite bands are is bad. I tend to rattle off a massive list of bands, half of which are obscure and make people give me blank looks in response. At least I can look down at them with a sense of pretentious superiority, I guess. And maybe there are some people out there who think my music taste is actually really cool. But i'm sure they're pretty few and far between. Oh well.
Anyway, as I said, I can appreciate most musical styles, so if you're a band looking to plug your music to me (particularly if you're a local act that I can catch live) feel free, and i'll let you know what I think. However - if you're one of those crappy bands out there only to make a couple of bucks and you don't give a shit about putting a message or any semblance of effort, originality or genuine feel into your music, you know who you are and please be so kind as to refrain from spamming my inbox. Otherwise, i'd be happy to hear from you. :)

Movies:
I'm unashamedly a Star Wars fan...I like a lot of sci-fi. Other movies I like are 2001: A Space Oddysee, A Clockwork Orange (I like most of Kubrick's movies), Battle Royale, Pulp Fiction, Trainspotting, etc. I could think of more.
Television:
I don't watch TV; aside from the occasional movie, the last time I watched TV was about a year ago. I usually watch DVDs on my computer instead.
But okay, I enjoy the Simpsons, Futurama, South Park, Red Dwarf, Blackadder, Firefly, skit shows, etc...Yeah, mostly comedy. British comedy in general is usually good for a laugh. I used to dismiss anime a bit, but i've been getting into some of it of the non-giant robots and shooting-fireballs-out-of-arseholes variety. Like School Rumble.
Books:
My favourite authors are probably Poe, Lovecraft, Douglas Adams, Raymond E. Feist, Kim Stanley Robinson, Tolkien and Orwell.
Heroes:
I'm not sure I actually have any heroes. Meh. Sucks to be your own idol sometimes. :p
(Note: I'm not really this arrogant. I'm just having fun.)
