As children growing up in the Toronto area with a large Caribbean population, The dancehall scene was tremendously power full. There were reggae parties everywhere, and hundred of sound systems representing their local areas . Also, building a new sound as a student was tough. Newby remembers, "" going to basement/ back yard jams and house parties using a Food City shopping cart and taxis as transportation". In 1993, Rebel Tone became a legal Dub Plate sound system featuring Newby, Davey Bwoy and Reverend as CEOs as young teenagers. Rebel Tone has set its foundation straight in the 90s..
