One of the most popular Industrial Rock bands in Vancouver, Synthetic Minister burst onto the scene with the release of 2003’s self-produced CD Existential Evolution.
Through the use of unconventional noise and sound layering, merged with hyper-isolationist lyrics and bipolar vocal/instrument styling, Synthetic Minister is an ambitious live and studio project quickly garnering underground attention.
Spearheaded by front man and principle songwriter, Steve Nikolic, the project has evolved into a subtle mix of experimentation within a somewhat recognizable structure and melody. The result is a cacophonic spree of synthesizers and unsettlingly intimate vocals over a soundscape of modulated drums and distorted instruments of various forms. With the introduction of synthesist/programmer Rob Hubbard, electro drummer/percussionist Mike Ferns, and guitarist AJ, the current incarnation of the band was formed.
Blending together Industrial, Electronic Rock, and Glitch, the band's unique, dark and catchy songs have become favorites of the Vancouver club, and electro-alternative scene. Notable Synthetic Minister tracks include Just Another Part, No Sympathy, and Locust.
With the pending release of the widely anticipated new album, “Cult Following†Synthetic Minister aims to continue its ascent.
