Any music lover can come to Atlanta and find decent R&B bands playing in clubs on virtually every street, in every club. But what they won't find is the same flavor, the same blend of jazz, soul, gospel, and hip hop that Urban Soul brings to the stage. Made up of individual musicians with impressive solo skills and differing musical sensibilities, Urban Soul has managed to fuse those separate sensibilities into one powerful sound that sends chills down your back and transports you to the amped-up space they live in when they play.Urban Soul gradually emerged from rotating jam sessions at Underground Atlanta. Ant Perry, the group's keyboardist, originally played at the Underground as a solo artist. On weekends, he began bringing in various Atlanta artists and combos to sit in with him, and eventually the right mix of musicians fell into place, forming the current Urban Soul lineup. Now together for about four years, Ant Perry describes Urban Soul's unique sound and feel: "Simply put, we have the kind of chemistry that pushes each other to the limit. We all demand excellence from each other because all of us want to make it hot. When it's hot, it's like telepathy, nothing we actually say. It might just be a look that we exchange.
