ABOUT NETTWERK ONE
Nettwerk One 'morphed' out of Nettwerk Songs Publishing which 'morphed' out of Nettwerk Music Publishing, which in turn had 'morphed' out of Nettoverboard Publishing and NTWK Songs. The latter two companies were born the same year Nettwerk Productions was founded in 1984.
Initially we began the publishing company to manage the copyrights of many of the artists signed to our label, Nettwerk Productions. This included such artists as Sarah McLachlan, Moev, Single Gun Theory, Skinny Puppy, Mc900 Ft. Jesus and Manufacture among many others.
One of our primary incentives in publishing these artists was to sub-publish their works with strong, predominately independent sub-publishers. In doing this we gained partners who would help Nettwerk liaise with the foreign labels releasing our published artists. These publishing partners would promote our artist/writers works, and in general tell us where our strong areas lie in terms of focused marketing and promotion. If there were weak areas, we would work with our sub-publishers in how we may best remedy them. For a small independent company from Vancouver this was an invaluable resource.
As the label and publishing company grew we were able to offer more services as a publisher. Synchronization of music with film is now a crucial component of Nettwerk One, with offices in Vancouver, Toronto, Los Angeles and London that handle film and television licensing. In addition, we are pro-active in seeking out co-writing opportunities for our writers and have success placing our artists/writers' songs on 3rd party compilations.
New artist-writers have come to Nettwerk from diverse genres of music, including Delerium, Gob, Jet Set Satellite and others. We have begun to publish many artists/writers not signed to the label, like Over the Rhine and Bill Bell and Sean Eyre.
With the opening of our UK Office we are focused on expanding our UK and foreign artist/writer roster. In addition, the UK office allows us to provide hands on synchronization, co-writer and other crucial publishing activities for our North American artist/writers; reciprocally, our North America office can offer these services for our UK writers. We continue to strive to work with high quality artist/writers, whether young developing writers or established ones, and as a pro-active publisher hope to help each artist/writer achieve success.
