Meldra is a guitarist, singer/songwriter, studying at the Academy of Contemporary music in Guildford
By the age of 15(in 2002), Meldra had formed a school rock band where was a guitarist/singer and main songwriter. As the front person of the band, she took part in many festivals and contests, gained grand Prix (Festival Blieziens 2002), The best début (Festival Sinepes&Medus 2002) , The hope of the future (Festival Stage No1) etc.
The song “For them” had great success in New Bands chart where it is No1 for a whole month, later the song is released in compilation the best new songs of 2002 (Prieksnams2) .Then songs “IBG”, “No one” “Tell me”, “Muzika” and others are in radio rotations(2002-2005).
In 2004 together with her dad Johnny Salamander they formed a new commercially successful family project “Johnny Salamander & Meldra” and released 2 albums “We share the the sun” (2004, JSP) and “Muzika” (2005, JSP)
The 2006 is very special year –she changed her life totally by leaving everything in Latvia and just fallowing her dream – a good musical education in UK.
In 2007 she has been pleased to work with wonderful Swedish pianist Robert Wells (www.wellsmusic.se), fantastic Geir Ronning, singer Matt Levens , Latvian National Opera choir, Liepajas symphonic orchestra.
Currently with her great band members she is recording new songs and gigging
