CATCHALIVE AND DIRECT FROM Switzerland…….CATCHA...............
..
.......... Geneva...…ah ....the name of this town evokes images of mountains, snow, skiing, chocolate, a lot of the worlds’ money in Swiss Bank Accounts…. Yet…there’s one ingredient missing from that list………and that is what many are starting to believe might well turn out to be one of Switzerland’s biggest exports ! We are, of course, talking about Catcha, the band comprised of Brits that have been raised in Geneva ; Catcha play music with a certain honesty and passion missing from todays rock/pop scene. Raised on Brit-monsters such as The Police, The Beatles, Pink Floyd… Chris Drew and Toby May have developed a symbiosis bordering on telepathy. Capable of reinventing their songs ‘on the fly’, the same set of songs as on the debut album become electrifying powerful cutting-edge vehicles in a live situation. In order to reach their full rock potential, Catcha called on their powerful allies : drummer Blair Cunningham (Paul McCartney, The Pretenders) and bass player John McKenzie (Seal, Bob Dylan), resulting in a heavyweight live band. CATCHA Chris & Toby explain :Their debut album recorded in London and Geneva, launched in November 2006, nicely summing up their musical identity. Twelve no-frills-dry-rock tracks of stories, statements and general reflections on life. FORMATIVE YEARS Chris Drew and Toby May were both uprooted as kids from their respective hometowns in Wales and Scotland. They both landed in Geneva, Switzerland where it all started… At age 15 Toby May found himself seated at a drumkit, and two years later met would-be guitar hero Chris Drew. Together they escaped their growing pains through music. They toured the US east-coast college circuit writing new material as they went. By the time they returned to Europe they had a first batch of songs and self-produced their demo CD . Before they finished making it they met bass player John McKenzie, drummer Blair Cunningham and producer Fred Defaye (Eurythmics, David Gray) who all became key players in the Catcha sound. Shortly after they signed to indie label Lotus Records (London) and spent the next couple of years easyjetting back and forth between Geneva and London creating the first album... .....Et Voilà ! here it is ! ... The debut album from Catcha. Catch the band live ! .... Checkthisspace for gigs info...... ...keepin’ it on the one baby !
