How I made my profile:
I used Dave & Jay's amazing myspace profile editor . Check out my band WESTERN AVENUE by clicking below!
At the young age of eighteen, Nikki English was witness to something many young people would never dream of seeing. She watched as the life of her beloved dad was taken due to a deadly illness, and from that moment on, her life would become a neverending struggle to find the truth, and genuity in everything she had done. Frank English instilled the love of music into Nikki, and she knew what she had to do. Carry on the legacy.
The love of music was always in Nikki's heart, which was carried down through many generations and perfected by the craft of love and practice. Nikki grew up in a life full of song, and found so much joy and passion with it through her growing years. Nikki realized this passion as soon as she could talk, and with the help of her friends and family, was able to flourish and grow into a unique individual with a voice that could not be taken any other way than seriously.
By the age of three, Nikki had developed her curiosity with music by teaching herself notes and simple melodies on the piano. There was little instruction, as she heard the notes fill her head. The love of the childhood classic, 'The Little Mermaid' led Nikki down the path of Disney, which allowed her to experiment, at her young age, with theatrical production and the popular sounds that Disney has managed to create. Nikki continued to explore with her endavours...
At the age of twelve, Nikki entered herself into a talent show, and enlisted the help of a few friends to sing the song 'Waterfalls', which was originally done by TLC. This was her first attempt at doing anything infront of people, and although it seemed nervewracking the moments before she took the stage, as soon as she saw the crowd, her fears disappeared. This marked the beginning of an incredible journey for Nikki, for she knew that she wanted to sing and loved how it felt to be on stage and touch so many people.
As her musical tastes progressed, she had started to write songs, which is not a typical attempt for a fourteen year old. Wise beyond her years, Nikki was able to capture raw emotion and simple lyrics in her song that touched everyone she showed. The joy of making her music better, came from her father, and continued to be a constant inspiration as she was growing.
A few years had gone by, and Nikki was able to teach herself numerous things with, by this time a growing fad, the computer, and started recording original material and allowing herself to hear the things she needed to work on through playing things back and sharpening her ear. The result of her recording efforts was a beautiful cassette that she presented to her mother on Mother's day. Recording on the computer was a great outlet for Nikki to start honing her craft as a vocalist, musician and songwriter.
In July of 2001, a few months after her eighteenth birthday, her father passed away from cancer. The two were extremely close, and this devastated Nikki, since they had so much in common and were completely involved in eachother's musical aspirations. Nikki gave herself some time to grieve, but knew that the one thing her father would want her to do is carry on with music, and make her dreams come true.
Like a fairytale story, something beautiful came from the tragic, and with the passing of her father, Nikki blossomed into a woman with more confidence, to push herself forward, and to have the momentum to keep things going. She had gained a higher confidence level, for she was doing this for two people now, and Frank English will forever be responsible for putting Nikki into the musical limelight. Although Nikki's father is not with her, she truly believes that he looks down on her, and she always says that it allows her to strive to be the best person she could ever be.
