MCR is a band from New Jersey formed in 2001. The band was started by Gerard and Matt Pelissier (ex-drummer) a week after September 11, 2001. Then he realize he should do something worthwhile and started the band. The first song they wrote was 'Skylines and Turnstiles' about the attack on September 11th.
Later, they asked Ray Toro to join the band because Gerard couldn't sing and play the guitar at the same time. Then, they recorded 'Our Lady Of Sorrows' and 'Cubicles' and Mikey Way decided to learn to play the bass to join the band.
Frank Iero was in the band 'Pencey Prep' and when they broke up he joined My Chemical Romance as the guitarist.
Three months after they recorded their first album 'I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love', released in 2002.
In 2003, they signed with Reprise Records and started to work on their second album 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge' and was released in 2004. Three singles were released, 'I'm Not Okay (I Promise)', 'Helena' and 'The Ghost Of You'.
Then, Matt Pelissier left the band and was replaced by Bob Bryar.
In 2005, My Chemical Romance and The Used collaborated on a cover of the David Bowie and Queen, 'Under Pressure' that was released as a benefit single.
On March 21, 2006, they released a DVD entitled 'Life On The Murder Scene'. It includes one DVD chronicling the band's history, and a second DVD with music videos, the making of the videos and a couple of live performances.
'The Black Parade' is their third album that was released on October 24, 2006 in the USA and October 23, 2006 in the UK. The band started recording this album on April 10, 2006 'Welcome To The Black Parade', the first single for this album and was released on August 3, 2006. During the shoot for this single, Gerard and Bob were injured. Gerard suffered a burn to the leg and torn ligaments in his ankle and Bob a staph infection that needed constant monitoring in the hospital, they was forced to cancel a couple of shows.
