Before the year of 1975, there were no National Pan-Hellenic Council Organizations at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Ten distinguished gentlemen, better known as "The Soulful Crimson Ten", have established the very first NPHC organization at UAM in March of 1975 under the jurisdiction of Gamma Sigma, which is located at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Within five years, the UAM chapter has grown. The Kappa Alpha Psi chapter at UAM; with permission from the National Grand Chapter, the Southwestern Province, and the Pine Bluff Alumni Chapter have been chartered as the Kappa Eta Chapter on September 6, 1980.
