I am here for Friends

About Me

I love my husband Stevie and my son Liam Yorke. I love sleeping in flannel sheets when it's cold and in those cool crisp cotton ones when it's so hot you sweat while standing still. I love my friends and my family and my enormous clumsy dog Ralphie. I write. I like to make things. I love shopping, home decor, fashion and jewelry, cosmetics, food preparation and consumption, fun on a daily basis. I am opinionated and truthful, outspoken and sincere. I love dessert, sushi, mexican food and reruns of 90210. I love being a mommy. I like to work with kids. I like to build and paint and make things pretty. I like to attempt singing. I like to do dance moves in the middle of everyday activities. I love to embrace life and to be surrounded by happy loving people.

My Interests

This is all I really need in life. Pet peeves: flakeism, dishonesty, and invented words, besides my own. Oh, yeah, plus sports watching, poor grammar, and unhappy people who are determined to spread their plague.

I'd like to meet:

Tori Amos. And perhaps God someday.

Music:

GBL will start a music revolution. And my bearlike counterpart is their John Lennon =)Seriously, if you haven't seen a live show, you are sorely deprived.

Movies:

Terms of Endearment, Requiem for a Dream, Magnolia, The Virgin Suicides, House of Sand and Fog, Napoleon Dynamite, American Beauty, Eternal Sunshine, Boys Don't Cry, Half Baked, Love Story, The Turning Point, Harold and Kumar go to Whitecastle, Closer, Edward Scissorhands, The Hand that Rocks the Cradle, Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, Thirteen, 25th Hour, American History X, Big Fish, The Graduate, Scary Movie (but ONLY the first one,) The Princess Bride, To Kill a Mockingbird, Donnie Darko, White Oleander, Streetwise, Grease, Saved, Better off Dead, Crossing Delancey, The Way We Were, The Party, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Thirteen Conversations About One Thing, Blow, Steal Magnolias, Dazed and Confused, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Man with a Movie Camera, Memoirs of a Geisha, You, Me and Dupree, Knocked Up, Chuck and Larry, Little Miss Sunshine, all things Harry Potter. Yes. I'm serious.

Television:

Lost, American Justice, Cold Case Files, decorating and cooking shows... oh, and as of late, plenty of Elmo =)

Heroes:

I truly admire my mother, my grandmother, my hubblezand, and my precious little boy. His zest for life is a constant uplifting force.

Buffalo Grass

The hills must have been the last thing she saw. Maybe their faces, the velvet green draped loose over sculpted rock growing from below. Or their silhouettes, torn paper shapes black against the setti...

Wonderings (Wanderings) of the Tuesday mind

The IT guy at work walks in with his two Mormon assistants. They're both pale white, pressed in khakis and polo shirts, cocky in that "I'm going to heaven, whether you are or not" sort of way. And wh...

Fiona sold her soul to radio demons

Okay, so, being the picky music person that I am, it is rare to discover a new album I really, really like. Fiona Apple has been one of my faves since her first album Tidal came out in 1997 or so. And...

Tribute to the Untimely Departed

Life turns regular people into amalgams- harmonic mixtures of encounters and circumstances. Relationships shape us into variations of those we admire, envy, respect. I look at my feet, abused from ye...

Superfluous Lovin' for the Compadres I so Cherish

So, this is the first chance I've had in a long while to feel boredom. And I like that I am finally breathing for a moment. It's hard to prioritize sometimes, because I feel like I want to pleas...
