To everything in life there is that person who excels & is said to be “TheONE†of what they do. This person not only gets it done, they are said to be almost flawless. Tone doesn’t call himself “TheONEâ€, instead it was a notion given to him by the people who have witnessed him in action.Milphis-The combination of Milwaukee, WI and Memphis, TN. Milphis is the term Tone TheONE uses to describe his upbringing between the two cities. Milphis also lead to the sound Tone TheONE has developed musically.
Fredric Antonio Stanley Jr. was born in 1985, on the Southside of Memphis, TN. Growing up he was always teased for not being able do anything musically, fashionable nor trendy from dancing, singing and there on up. He was said to be very quiet, observant, & being to himself a lot. After living in Memphis for about 7 years, he and his family moved to Milwaukee, WI where they lived together for about 3 years. Not really liking the experience he asked his mother if he could be moved back to Memphis and she granted his request.“Being back home was a great feelingâ€, Tone says. “One thing I always look forward to is going across the bridges; it really brings peace to my spiritâ€, HOME SWEET HOME!!!
Being back home of course had its ups as well as its downs. Still being teased for his short comings, Tone set in him to focus on what he could do, which at the time was drawing. Praised for his level of artistic skill, he found refuge in what it was to be him.“I believe all I wanted at the time was to be accepted. I couldn’t dance nor could I sing and the saddest part of it all I believe is that I couldn’t even remember a rap to save my life. I remember going to school seeing how everyone knew all the lines to the songs on the radio and I just wasn’t up to speed, quite honestly I really didn’t care, it was just the feeling of being hip I guess I wanted.â€Once again Tone had to go to live in the city of which he begged to be out of, Milwaukee, WI. His experiences this time thou were a little bit better. He was actually a part of the in crowd, as they call it. He still grew weary of the city after a while and once again asked to be placed back in Memphis.“This time I had something to prove, I would no longer be teased, I was demanding respect.â€Doo rag, clean cut and fresh gear put him at the top of the list this go round. Antonio, what they called him at the time, was soon to be considered one to be. He had finally reached the level he yearned to reach.
Having the fame & glory soon came to a sudden halt when he had been once again told that he was returning to Milwaukee.“I remember it like it was yesterday, I had it all, soon to be junior with a job, girlfriend, notoriety & everything else there was to be, “The Manâ€, taken away from me and I had no control.â€Upon his return to Milwaukee, Tone was taken under the wing of an older cousin; producer/rapper/singer Taliaferro. He began teaching Tone about music and the Hip-Hop scene. Tone began experimenting with Music Generator on the Sony Play Station video game system.“I never really aspired to be in Hip-Hop or what have you I was just merely seeing what I could do. I remember occasionally listening to Jay-Z and some of the things he was saying were intriguing, at the time I was mainly focused on the production of east coast music. I believe it was Vol.2 Hardknock life that really caught my attention.â€The first beat ever made from Tone was on the Playstation! Starting off as a hobby he would come home and make beat, after beat, after beat, getting on his mother’s nerves. While attending John Marshall High School, he observed how students would battle rap each other in the lunch room and how serious they took it. As he started to blend in more he noticed that there was one special out of the crowd, one by the name of Freeze (A.K.A. Damien Sumler).“In the M-Town, (Memphis), there was rap of course but nothing how it was up north, I mean yea everybody wanted to be the top but the way it was being brought was totally different from what I was use to. The lyrics, the aggression, the finesse, just the overall style was unique to me. I had to get someone on my production.â€He reached out to Freeze, to come check out his production. It took a little while but, once the contact was made the two united. They formed “The 2 Greatz†under “RenaiZZance Entertainmentâ€. Initially, TONE wasn't known for rap, just for having HOT beats. !!! Until, while making the song, "Pain-N-Heartache", Tone stepped out of his box and requested to add a verse on the song. He never looked back from there and continued to hone his rhyme skills.“The best part of the scenario of me entering into becoming a rapper was that Freeze was so supportive, because I was indeed WACK!!! Hard work pays off thou, I never really appreciated that phrase until now, I look back and just thank GOD because I was so far gone from becoming who I am today.â€With two (2) group albums, (Tone and Freeze), “Movin’ Preciseâ€, “The 2 Greatz†and 5 solo albums/mixtapes and numerous songs over the course of about 8 years, Tone is just getting started and has built a sizable following in Southeastern Wisconsin. He is posed to give the rest of the world to get a taste of the “Milphis Soundâ€; He has worked with various artists in the MIL such as: Talia’ferro, Sose of Silent Threat Music, Bill Martell of Pure Game, Bandana & Link of Grind Gang, Pacino, ImMortaL, 6’5â€, Dscple, Meeks for Music, 40MiL, and many more to come. Tone TheONE has developed himself as an artist/ producer and is ready to take on the industry.“I understand that my story of how I came into the Hip-Hop realm isn’t the normal cliché, but I’m here & you can’t do anything about it. I was once asked; what’s this “Milphis Sound†you speak of, help me understand. Honestly there is nothing to understand just something to get to know & get use to, but let me warn you unless you’ve lived my life you probably will never understand.â€
