Mike Shimmin

About Me

Mike is currently the percussionist for the Ann Arbor based, Prog-Celtic group Millish. In March 2006, Millish had the opportunity to tour Germany---18 shows in 18 days! In 2006 and 2007, by way of the VULGARITY VAN, Millish toured the Eastern, and Midwest parts of the U.S. Mike is also the percussionist for the Kruziki Transatlantica Quintet, which was started and lead by saxaphonist/composer/arranger Aaron Kruziki. KTQ was a great success, winning several Downbeat Student Music Awards, (in both classical AND jazz categories--for the same group of recordings!!), and the group was also invited to perform at the IAJE Conference in New York City, in January of 2006. Recently, Mike has been performing and recording with Michigan songwriters/musicians Seth Bernard and Daisy May, from the Earthwork Music label. He is featured on Daisy May's latest release, "Mother Moon" and will be heard on Bernard's upcoming album. Mike is currently studying drumming, rhythm, and life with Jamey Haddad, a master drummer/percussionist who lives in Cleveland, OH.
