Dié Lagma came into being one evening in november 1994, in search for an alternative way of musicking. Back then this included a heavily mistreated cello and electric guitar, improvised and recorded on cheap 4-track, resulting in quite unseen audible colours.Later, all sorts of strange sounding objects were incorporated into the concept, the recording facility became an 8-track and also composition was used, resulting in even stranger colours. This produced the albums 'Songs for Psychoanalysists' (1995) and 'Songs for Aestheticians' (1997). In 1999 I got my hands on livelooping devices and from that on this became the foundation of Dié Lagma's improvised work.Nowadays, all of this is done with laptop. Being questioned about the meaning of that strange band-name, i reply: i hope there is none! All i can say is, it sounds french somehow, and french music, to me, is about colour.
