Kytes of Omar started as a two piece in late 2006, Adelaide, consisting of guitar and drums. Since then Kytes of Omar have added two more people to its band.
Kytes of Omar are: Joseph Russo (lead guitar/back up vocals), Michael Iuliano (bass/back up vocals), Anthony Candlish (lead vocals/guitar) and Matt Boulden (drums).
The style of music Kytes of Omar create would be classified as fast dirty psychedelic rock with a hint of pop.
When Kytes of Omar were asked, what are your influences? The answer was: "Each other". We use each other to create our music, because each member is into different styles of music.
Kytes of Omar have been reviewed by a well known Adelaide music journalist quoting: "Kytes of Omar are like Queens of the Stone Age, kings of Leon, black rebel motorcycle club, the vines, the pixies but the amazing thing is they are not!
Kytes of Omar recorded their first EP in 2007 at industry studios, Adelaide. The EP consisted of seven tracks, which were very rough and edgy since they had not even played a live show until the last day of the recording. The first self-titled EP was recorded in a very rushed three days.
In 2008 Kytes of Omar recorded their second EP "Let's go diagonal" with Matt Hills at Hillside Studios whom has recorded previous artists such as: Wolf and cub, fire! Santa! Rosa! Fire! And many more, Matt Hills has also mixed at the big day out and other international acts.
Since the first EP recorded in 2007 Kytes of Omar decided to make change. They wanted to be original; they wanted it to be epic! Synth, organs and backwards vocals can be heard in the 2008 EP "let's go diagonal"; it became a very instrumental EP. It's epic! (Quoted by Matt Hills).
So far Kytes of Omar have played with such acts as: Morals of a Minor, Spencer P. Jones, The Bakelite Age, The Darkest Heartstrings and many more.
Also kytes of omar were selected to play at the "live at the zoo" music festival, playing along side with some of Australia's best bands: British india, Augie march, tame impala etc.
Kytes of Omar were recently extras playing live in an Australian full length movie which is soon to be released in 2009.
The song "she's special" selected for the movie can be heard on let’s go diagonal (track three).
Kytes of Omar toured to Melbourne in late 2007 with a great reception from crowds, playing with the Bakelite age and the darkest heartstrings. They plan to do more interstate shows including Sydney, Perth and Brisbane.
Kytes of Omar were also played on the radio in the USA to many ears and hope to one day tour international.
