About Me
Alex Foster is a sound recording engineer based in the Surrey and London boroughs. Although starting as a keen song writer and lyricist, he developed a passion for sound recording a reproduction which has led him to the internationally renowned Tonmeister Music and Sound Recording degree at Surrey University. Now, alongside his studies, he is involved with numerous projects including working with TMC Audio, a live Sound Stage & Lighting production company, teaching and supervising A Level Music Technology sessions at Therfield School in Leatherhead, providing high quality recordings for solo artists, bands, choirs and orchestras, and also striving to be a developed song writer, musician and producer.

Taking the role of producer, the success of a song as a whole, is reliant on the performance. Although I am involved in keeping the performers comfortable, making sure we get the best take, knowing the equipment and/or software back to front and having a knowledge of how to record and reproduce sound, the end results can only ever be as good as the people who are involved in it's production. I am extremely privileged to have worked with some very talented musicians and songwriters, people who I'm sure will be household names in the near future.

In my music I am now forever striving to create something that's unique, and whilst trying to write commercially viable melodies and lyrics, I want to incorporate progressive elements and be spontaneous and creative with rhythm and instrumentation. I find it's not always possible or effective, and I truly never feel a song is 'finished' as such, as I am always improving and finding new and often better ways to compose and record music and sound. The fact that it's impossible to know everything about this subject, that music and sound will always be subjective no matter how much research and technology advances, there's never going to be a 'perfect' song or sound because who defines perfect? We are all unique and although people can be grouped into genres or categories, some being more susceptible to subliminal messaging and invoking specific thoughts from sound and music, each person has different experiences and therefore personalities. Despite this fact, I am still choosing to devote my life in this field of interest, and hopefully I will get the chance to make a valuable contribution to it.
