Quoc Trung composed, arranged, banded and produced CDs for virtually all Vietnam’s biggest stars without exception for more than 20 years. He first leaded a band called “The Orient”, mainly played Jazz and Pop featuring one of the best divas in Vietnam – Thanh Lam, then started to focus more on production side for many other well-known singers in the country such as Ha Tran, Hong Nhung etc. Having been working on world/new-age/electronic/lounge music for many years, Quoc Trung has the ability to fuse Vietnamese traditional music with modern influences without losing his original identity, using many traditional musical instruments like monocord, zyther, two-string instrument etc, and even traditional vocals in his composing and arranging, which he blends with synthesizers, samplers and other modern instruments. He has so far gained a large number of awards in Vietnam, has performed in many countries in the world (including Japan for the Royal Family of Japan in Tokyo), taken part in prestigious music festivals such as Montreux Jazz Festival, Roskilde Music Festival and many other festivals in Asia, performing along side with Swiss pop star Stephan Eicher and French/African drummer Manu Katche, and collaborated with a well-known Scandinavian producer/composer/pianist Niels Lan Doky for many years now (in his project “Asian Sessions”, Universal), and co-produced a concert project called “Wishing Upon The Moon” which was based on his own project/album “The Road To Infinity”, performed and gained huge success in Vietnam and Denmark in 2006. Quoc Trung has met with and learned from many worldwide renowned artists such as Sixun, Paco Serry, Eric Seva, Pat Metheny, Paul Voudouris etc. He has also written music for a number of Asian featured movies and TV commercials including the latest music production for a Sony commercial. Quoc Trung has certainly established himself as the top leading producer/composer in Vietnam in current years and looking forward to challenging himself on a higher level and into the world market.
