Formed in April 2006, the founders of Racecar had one vision --- to create something different. Everyone says that, and it’s no easy feat, but early observers realized that this band had created a hybrid sound that wasn’t being heard anywhere else on the Winnipeg scene.Blending rock guitars with punk sensibilities, Racecar veers from bouncy pop to something approaching metal, often within a single song. This Winnipeg foursome have been steadily growing their Winnipeg fan-base with regular appearances around town at venues such as the Zoo, the Pyramid and the Cavern.The lineup includes:• Vocals driven by Kerri Scott, once described as a cross between Crispin Glover and Henry Rollins (just try to picture it) • Bassist Jay Swerdelian, most notable for his recent stint in the popular Beatles tribute act, Rubber Soul • Guitarist Mike Jack, most recently of The Saucermen • Drummer Phil Noschese, most recently of Bliss and Gin TaxiThe recent additions of Mike and Phil in the summer of 2007 have already driven the band in directions less traveled, adding a depth to the sound that the band had been striving towards.The band will be entering the studio early 08 to record a full length with this new lineup, with the intention of touring western Canada soon thereafter.
