About Me

I've mellowed out in my old age.

My Interests

I have numerous interests all over the map, but there are a few that have been constants in my life for quite some time: Japanese martial arts are my core pursuit and will remain so. I get a kick out of maintaining, restoring, and riding my classic BMW and Honda motorcycles. I enjoy seeing and hearing indescribably good live music and sharing those experiences with likeminded friends. I love computer science and math - when I've been working on a difficult problem and I reach a breakthrough, I get quite a rush.

I'd like to meet:

Persons of integrity and friendly disposition

Music:

Cryptopsy, Pavement, Guided By Voices, Ted Leo, Fugazi, Dysrhythmia, Behold! The Arctopus, The Police, The Beatles, Cannibal Corpse, Immortal, Spiritualized, Sex and Death USA, Rorschach, Crooked Hook, anything involving Derek Roddy, Porphyria, Mogwai

Movies:

The Road Warrior, The Motorcycle Diaries, Gladiator, the Wes Anderson movies, Star Wars, Kurosawa, all manner of documentaries, zombie movies, and sports flicks

Television:

Survivorman, Metalocalypse, CHiPs, Arrested Development, The State, The Colbert Report, Flight of the Conchords

Books:

Code Complete, Bill Bryson's stuff, Kurt Vonnegut's stuff, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Strunk and White

Heroes:

I look up to a lot of people for a lot of reasons. My mom and dad never cease to amaze me. My cousin lived an exemplary life. Many of my friends have worked hard and are enjoying great success as a result.

When I was like two years old

we had an aquarium in our living room.  Every morning I would wake up before my mom, and while I was watching Sesame Street or whatever, she would come out into the living room and occasionally h...

This may be my favorite joke of all time.

A frog walks into a bank. He goes over to the teller, whose nameplate reads "Wacker, Patty", and he says to her, "I'd like to apply for a loan, please." The teller says, "Okay, first I'll need y...

OMG Most amazing thing ever.

So, as many of my close, personal acquaintances are aware, recently I helped my good friend and ex-bandmate Caroline move out to Los Angeles. On the way out there, we were driving through the Arizona...
