It’s official – Charlie Jones is one of the UK’s brightest hopes!That’s the opinion of BBC Radio 2, BBC New Talent & the British Academy of Composers & Songwriters who recently voted her one of the top new songwriters in the country and made her a founder member of the Radio 2 Songwriters Academy.This Brummy bird turned Leicester local has been writing, playing & singing her brand of acoustic indie-pop to an ever-increasing & appreciative audience in the Midlands – now it’s time to take the show on the road!Although she often sang a song or two on the swings, it wasn’t until 2003 & inspirations like The Libertines, Kings of Leon & Amy Winehouse made her pick up her dad’s guitar and have a go at her own stuff – but strictly for her ears only. However, after raves from family, friends, housemates & even Pete Doherty, the Bard of Albion himself, Charlie realised she had something special.After hooking up with producer Daniel Greet & recording The Shoe Sessions at the beginning of 2005, she began to play out, landing regular slots at leading Leicester venues, and prestigious appearances at the likes of Porked and the Summer Sundae, before making significant inroads into the wicked world of the media.Leicester Sound named Charlie the Best Unsigned Act of 2007, & there’s been regular airplay & sessions on the station, along with BBC Radio Leicester & Takeover FM and in-print raves from the Leicester Mercury, The Demon and 69 magazine.With 14 songs recorded, more arriving all the time & new track ‘Peter to Paul’ attracting record company interest there’s never been a better time to discover Ms Jones…----------------------------------------------------
