The Belize Christian Network Radio was officially on the air April 1st, 1995 in the village of Ladyville in the Belize District. The gospel truth was transmitted from a small wooden building and a 300 watts transmitter with 200 ft of rented space on the Belize Broadcasting Authority tower at that time. It was a very exciting time in the history of Belize as BCN was only the second Christian radio in the Belize to be broadcasting to the most populated part of the country.
BCN radio was then moved to Belize City for a very short time but returned to its rightful home of Ladyville where it still is today. It was at this time that the late Mr. Carmen Garcia made a commitment to keep BCN on the air. Through the hard work and dedication BCN was able to purchase a 100 ft tower from the British Army.
Over the years of struggle BCN wooden building had become old and dilapidated. The next challenge was for a concrete building which was hurricane proof. Mr. Carmen along with the staff and supporters held concerts, BBQ sales and was able to erect a small concrete studio. All during this time Mr. Carmen Garcia was ill but he never complained. He was on a mission to keep BCN on the air and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. There were many days that Carmen struggled out of bed and signed on BCN at
6:00 AM. In May 2005 he fell very ill and could not carry the torch anymore. He passed on BCN to his wife Mrs. Christine Garcia and on 18th of May 2006 God called Mr. Carmen Bernard Garcia to his rightful home in Gloryland. This was indeed a very sad day for Christian radio in Belize. Mr. Carmen was a true warrior for the Lord.
Mrs. Christine Garcia picked up the torch and today BCN is still proclaiming the Life changing gospel of Jesus Christ. BCN 101.7 F.M. renamed LIFE FM is a miracle. Souls have been saved, lives changed by this dynamic ministry. BCN has not forgotten the hardwork that all previous managers, boards, volunteers and supporters of this life saving ministry. Rest assure that our commitment to the Lord continues to be our focus. God has been Faithful, lets be good stewards. To Him belongs all the glory.
