About Me
Chilean-born but T-dot-based Bomba is an mc, bass player, graffitti artist, dj, documentary videomaker and youth worker.
She began her artistic career in the mid 80's as a New-York-style mural artist, claiming her fame as the first Latina female graffti artist in Canada.She was voted NOW Magazine's Graffti Artist of the Year in 1998!!!
As a hobby, she would dj at parties and play the bass.
In '93 she joins Jamaican dancehall reggae divas Women Ah Run Tings (an 8 piece all-female outfit), as bass player, thus becoming the first Latina musician in Canada to open for acts such as : Beenie Man (2000),Buju Banton (1999), Elephant Man (2001)and Burning Spear (1998).
As a solo artist, she has performed and recorded with various artists in Canada, Chile, Cuba,Jamaica ,New York,California, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Argentina.Some of these artists include :performing with Orishas (formerly Amenaza, 1997), in their native city of Habana, recording with Mexicano777 in San Juan, Puerto Rico (2003),at The Lab Studios with Ecko, of In The House Magazine, Dj Magic of Pina Records, also in Puerto Rico (2003), recording with Thick Organic Productions in Queens,New York (2001), with Blanquito Man (of King Chango fame,featured on her new solo release "El Album" ), in the Bronx (2002), as well many others who are part on the international diaspora of the Latino Urban Music Scene.
One of her favorite international performances includes sharing the stage with the likes of Cescruenlace (Colombia),SociedadesKalle (Colombia),Polihill y La Croata(Chile), at the Hip Hop Symposium in Caracas, Venezuela, this past August, 2005.

July 22nd, 2006 in Toronto's own Harbourfront Centre(www.harbourfrontcentre.com), where she curated a night of live performances of spoken word,hip hop,funk and reggae that included poet/spoken word artist Tiosha Bojorquez from Mexico/L.A., 20 member all female Latina dance crew Latin Street, and her 14 piece band, Amasonica Sound Force. She performed to a full-capacity (1000 peoples) house at the Brigantine Room, as part of Harbourfront Centre's "Ritmo y Color" festival.More recently, she performed 3 nights as opening act for Canada's punk legends, Propagandhi (www.g7welcomingcommittee.com), rhyming solo for three sold-out performances in : Toronto, St. Catherine's and Hamilton.
Her dj skills have been honed over the years , appearing on community radio stations in Canada such as CHRY, CKLN and CIUT, as well as part of Denise Benson's SAVOUR dj showcases(2003 - 2006).She has brought her salsa flava to Toronto clubs such as Revival (2002),the El Mocambo (2001), and Guvernment Nightclub's "Caramelo Fridays"(June-August 2005), to name a few, as well as large number of private parties and jams.She is currently part of New York's La Comision Dj Pool.

Bomba has appeared on Much Musics' Rap City (1998, 2000), City TV's now defunct show Ooh La La (as a featured graffiti artist,1997), TeleLatino (numerous times), CFMT's Latin Vibes(2005,2006), and CBC's The Passionate Eye, where she was deemed as one of Canada's leading female independent artists (2001).In Jamaica she has appeared on Super Supreme, as well as other shows in Chile and Puerto Rico.
Her documentaries include : Hip Hop Habana (1998) which was featured on CBC Newsworld for two consecutive nights, La Cuarta (2003) (featured in film festivals in : Canada,Chile,USA and Belgium), and her most recent , Hip Hop Puerto Rico (in post production stages, due for this winter, 2007).They all focus on urban youth culture : djs, rappers,b-boys/girls and graffiti artists who are coming up in Latin America.
When she is not busy promoting her latest work or doing shows with her 14 piece band Amasonica Sound Force, Bomba works as a youth programming coordinator.She currently resides and works in Canada.
