About Me

THE LOVE SUPREMES MANIFESTO

Physically Speaking, The Love Supremes are six individuals from diverse backgrounds but with a singular purpose: to make this a more beautiful planet. The Love Supremes insist that we all open our eyes, our ears, our minds and our hearts to the groovitude that is existence. Stop! Smell the roses...and don't forget the violets and the snapdragons while you are at it. We feel that too many of us are bound by imaginary lines of restraint. Divisions between countries, classes, creeds, colors and consciousness must all be dissolved. We must learn to read between the lines. the Love Supremes endeavor to lead the way, using maps written in the universal language of music

The Love Supremes founder Phast Phreddie Patterson was last seen fronting a notorious R&Be-Bop ensemble known as Thee Precisions. When that unit broke up in disharmony it so disillusioned the Phast Man that he left the false promises of Hollywood to search for truth and beauty elsewhere. After nearly a year of inner and outer exploration on roads less traveled, he returned with a visions--"It's time to expand some heads."

First enlisted was drummer Paul Body (formerly of the now legendary Sheiks of Shake), who came out of retirement to provide the rhythmic backbone for the new crusade. "The Love Supremes is a band I can believe in," says the solid Mr. Body.

Damon Shcarlatt's vast understanding of the musical and philosophical spectrum made him the only choice to play guitar for this band. He insists that "The Love Supremes will provide the soundtrack for a new era of personal enlightenment."

"My whole life has been a learning experience to prepare me for The Love Supremes. I just didn't know until I was asked to join," states Zachariah Love, vocalist and maraccas shaker. He is so involved with The Love Supremes that he makes several key decisions for the group.

Phast Phreddie first observed bass player Andrew Scharlatt in a fine garage band called The Response. When The Love Supremes was being formed, the Phast One knew that this man must lay out the bottom. According to Drew, "The Love Supremes will move your feet, soothe your soul and groove your mind."

D.J. Bonebrake was an aquaintance of Phreddie back in the late seventies when D.J. drummed for several punk bands before settling in with the greatest one of all--X. a master of several percussion instruments, Mr. Bonebrake plays a marimba for our needs here. He says, quite emphatically, "The Love Supremes is much more than a Rock 'n' Roll band. It is a way of life."

Recently, The Love Supremes have been aided and abetted by four women vocalists--known affectionately as The Lovelies. They are Bernadette Sabath, Camille Henry, Pam Goodshild and Martha Hacket.

These people were hand-picked to be The Love Supremes. Our mission has driven us to record an album of songs that will help us achieve our ambitious goals. Titled CAN YOU WALK ON WATER?, and produced by Vitus Mataré, the record will signal the beginning of a new attitude for Pop music.

When The Love Supremes sing, "open your head--let the pictures come," are they advising the youth of the world to Turn On?

Yes, in every sense.

--THE LOVE SUPREMES (circa 1988)

"Sing This All Together" is available on a split single (other side by The Dirt Bombs) on Norton Records .
