About Me

contemplating self-employment while booking staff for catered events. the non-cooking side of catering is worthwhile but sort of sucking my soul away. i am a voracious reader, i make my own holiday cards, own too many pairs of high heels and like to share food at restaurants. i'd like to go traveling in some tropical or desert location right now. i miss trees and mountains and sweating to reach their peaks very dearly. i take my meat rare and my coffee light and sweet. i don't like walking in the rain or waking up before 7. if we hang out, i'll cook you dinner (or breakfast) and explain how to do it like a cooking show. i wish that i could invent a molecular transporter every single day. i am as happy going out to a club or bar or museum as i am with just kicking it at home. i heart cabs, drawing maps and cleaning the house in my kimono in the morning.

My Interests

cooking, dance-theater, writing, dancing, cooperatives, backpacking, politics, etymology, theoretical physics, quanta, scrabble, g and t's, heels, laughing, sky, mountains, ocean, desert, brunch, weekday mornings in bklyn, the city in winter, the italian countryside, short skirts (ie. dressing for the season you want), art, dinner parties, thinking about decorating my apartment, sausage patties (real or fake), friends, music, travel.

I'd like to meet:

you know who you are, mi media naranja. the funny ones. the smart ones. the nice ones. the ones with stories to tell. the girl with the "i heart duck fat" tattoo. a car (but only sometimes). a crossword do-er, a hiker, as always, a financial backer. someone who feels passionately about politics and the planet and local economies. a nerdy scrabble player. a pork eater. a hip-hop listener. partners in crime.

Music:

npr is on always. i have a love/hate relationship with hot97. bjork, MJ, ella, m.i.a., bessie smith, postal service, the roots, kanye west, common, nina simone, chris pureka, jay-z AND nas, de la, tribe, talib kweli, stevie wonder, bluegrass, e badu, les nubians, ebtg, zero 7, air, prince, world, dancehall/reggaeton, the princess of crunk n' b, songs to sing loudly in the car.

Movies:

pretty much anything with will ferrell, mel brooks with dad, the snl spin offs, the 40 year old virgin (are you sensing a pattern here?) almodovar, like water for chocolate, spellbound, robin hood (the animated version-for the politics obviously), eternal sunshine, flashdance, harold and kumar, brokeback mountain, the brat pack, dance movies

Television:

cramming in back to back repeats of law and order at winston's, lost and six feet under on dvd, netflix (this probably doesn't count but... whatever)

Books:
