Real Life formed in Melbourne Australia during the early eighties. After working six nights a week, building a local following for a couple of years, we released our first record Send me an Angel, from our first album Heartland. The song was a big hit in most parts of the world. Other singles from that Album were Openhearted, Catch me I'm Falling and Always. We recorded a second album Flame, which took us along time and cost us a lot of money. It stiffed!
SEND ME AN ANGEL , NUMBER ONE REQUESTED 80'S VIDEO
We were trying to grow as a band, but all the record companies wanted to hear was the sound of cash registers ringing to the sound of a Send me an Angel mark 2. However, the first single Face to Face was a minor hit. Four years after it was recorded, we had a second hit single from that album, with a re-mix of Let's Fall in Love. In 1986 we scored a U.S. alternative hit with a song called Babies.
Our Australian record company refused to release the song in Australia, and from that day on, our career in our own country was over.
The Gulf War broke out, our record company imploded, and our new Keyboard player [Steve Williams] exploded under similar circumstances to his predecessor!
OK so some time in the mid 90's our current keyboard player Mr George Pappas aka the Reverend Peabody arrived on our doorstep. We are very careful not to light matches or smoke around George.
Being Greek he has a great fondness for anything to do with Goats, but doesn't mind a good Llama every now and then. But seriously folks in 1997 he provided the sonic landscape for the album HAPPY and the remix HAPPIER album. It's the best record we'd made until IMPERFECTION came along in 2003
2001 the Supreme Court awarded us the rights to the Master tapes of Heartland and Flame. This means for the first time ever the band will receive artist royalties unless you're stealing our work from Napster.
We are alive and well. We still love what we do and July 2003 saw the release of our newest album IMPERFECTION. The positive responses so far have been fantastic. (NB US edition with bonus CD of remixes and new single released 2004)
Oh yeah streamlined Real Life are now George the Peorge on the Organ and of course me David the Thin White Puke Sterry singing with the guitar at the same time. Do you get the impression that I hate writing all this bio bullshit?
