I am here for Friends

About Me

My name is David Whitaker. I live in Cumming GA (Just North of Atlanta). I'm a music major in college, but I'm really planning on being a physics teacher. (figure that one out...) I recently started learning magic tricks in my spare time as a hobby (these are sleight of hand impromptu tricks, not the kind that come in a box on the toy aisle at Wal-Mart.) Besides that, I like to watch movies and write music(which I unfortunately haven't done in a while...).LOVEMYFLASH CODE

My Interests

Music is my main passion in life. That's why I'm majoring in it. I also love movies. I own tons of DVDs and one of my favorite past-times is watching movies with director commentaries. Most people find those boring, but I find them fascinating. And I am now an amateur practitioner in the art of illusion.

I'd like to meet:

A famous composer. John Williams is cool.(He writes ton's of movie soundtracks.) I also would love to meet Stephen Schwartz. He wrote music for tons of musicals and whatnot. Some of his more famous projects were the music of Godspell, Pippin, The Prince of Egypt, and most recently Wicked. I just love his music and if I could write music like him, I'd take it on as a full time career.View All Friends | View Blog | Add Comment

Pachelbel's Cannon. It's Everywhere!!!

Twisted Sister - We're Not Gonna Take It - performed by Mario Characters.

Carrie Underwood - I'll Stand By You
Accompanied by a video of her working with AIDS orphans in Africa.

Music:

I love music. I listen to whatever I feel like listening to. Some days it's heavy metal, and other days it's broadway. Opera, Some Country, Rock (real Rock that is), and just about anything in between. I do have some exceptions. No Emo, No Greenday, and No Hardcore. The popular music in the U.S. has been going downhill since the 70's.
---Music I like---Rock & Metal: - Nightwish - Sonata Arctica - Hammerfall - Theocracy - Stratovarius - Iron Maiden - Ayreon - DragonForce - Edguy - 3 Inches of Blood - Uriah Heep - Eric Clapton - Led Zeppelin - Styx - Journey - Kansas - Yes - Dream Theater - Pain of Salvation - Saviour Machine - Symphony X - Emerson, Lake, and Palmer - Jethro Tull - Rush ..... To be cont'dPop & Popera: - Josh Groban - Sara Brightman - The Goo Goo Dolls - The Fray That's right! The Fray... Deal with it - Carrie Underwood - Leanne Womack - Barry Manilow .... more to comeClassical: - Beethoven - Bach - Mozart - Vivaldi - Holst - Mussorgsky - Stravinsky - ..... to be continued when I find out how to spell the namesBroadway Soundtracks: - Wicked - Phantom of the Opera - Beauty and the Beast - Godspell - Spamalot - The Producers - Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat - Les Miserables - Little Shop of Horrors - Scrooge - The Lion King - Avenue Q - Ragtime I'll Eventually list more in all of the categories....

Movies:

I like most Superhero movies. Superman, Spider-Man, X-Men, and so on. I love Mel Brooks films. Musical films such as Little Shop of Horrors and Prince of Egypt. The Game starring Michael Douglas is one of very few films that has ever surprised me with its ending. Of course I love Epics like Chronicles of Narnia, Lord of the Rings, and Pirates of the Caribbean. I like other movies too, but I don't care to list them all.

Television:

American Idol! I have to watch it, I'm a vocal major. I always hate when the contestants come out with an album of contemporary pop, but I love seeing them do good old fashion music on the show.

Books:

Three Favorite Authors and Some good books by them.Dean Koontz: -The Taking -Strangers -Sole Survivor -Winter Moon(The Ending could have been better.) -Mr. Murder -Odd Thomas(Quite possibly the best book ever!)Gregory McGuire: -Wicked -Mirror Mirror -Confessions of an Ugly StepsisterC.S. Lewis: Chronicles of Narnia (in order of publication. Not in the crappy order they sell it in now.) Space Trilogy Screwtape Letters Mere ChristianityI also like Tolkien, Crichton, Clancy, and a whole lot more. I love a good novel.

Heroes:

My hero would have to be the apostle Paul. He gave up everything in order to do the will of God. In his younger years he was a major Jewish leader and was very wealthy, but when he became a follower of Christ, he had to give that all up. He was imprisoned, he was criticized, he was driven out of cities for preaching, and he was even at one point stoned and left for dead. Paul lived by these words he wrote: "But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ." Philippians 3:7
