Books, publishing, copyediting, writing, photography, graphic design, traveling, cooking, music, art, modernist culture, vintage scooters, dizzying conversation, tasting and comparing the individual characteristics of olive oil, honey, tea and coffee from different regions, gardening, my three wonderful nephews, tea and more tea, England (well, the UK in general really), spiritual inquisitiveness and growth, caffeine-fueled housecleaning, tarot, alternative and foreign films, traveling by train, vintage clothes, good food and roadside eateries, experiencing something new, LJ, cooking, continuing education, 1920s - 1960s, good chocolate and meeting new people. I will watch Little Britain, Scrubs, CSI, Cold Case, Dr. Who (new), The Catherine Tate Show, Black Books and That Mitchell and Webb Look. The Prisoner or The Avengers, when I can get my hands on a friend's set of DVDs of the shows. The National Geographic, Learning and History Channels are very entertaining - ahem, I should say educational - and I don't feel like I am "dumbing down" when watching them. Honestly, I probably watch way too much BBCAmerica, Bravo, IFC, A&E, PBS and Food Network.
Currently getting ready to sit down and read Sons and Lovers by DH Lawrence. Charles Bukowski, C.G. Jung, William S. Burroughs and books that delve beautifully...richly...into the darker corners (or should I say the beauty?) of the soul. Dorothy Parker for her biting wit. Octavio Paz and e.e. cummings - as well as Mr. Burroughs, really that should not need saying - for making me rethink words and the perceived correct usage of them everytime I read their works. Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, The Oxford Advanced Learning Dictionary and The Chicago Manual of Style. Lately, anything by Pablo Neruda, books about the Knights Templar and educational references about Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
Gandhi, Buddha, Eleanor Roosevelt ("The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."), Jimmy Carter, John Lennon, Pablo Neruda, and my Grandmother. The person who invented the ellipsis (...). The first person who decided to roast coffee beans and cocoa beans and toast tea leaves. The Wright Brothers. The doctors and nurses that saved my mother's life. The inventor of ibuprofin. God Bless'em all. My father for his "nothing is impossible" attitude. Musicians and any performer that has the b*lls to get up and put on a show. Authors who spill out their hearts and are brave enough to publish. Artists that create and exhibit their works. People who truly know their heart and follow the path it leads them along.
