Formed by the Turk and Giraffley in 2000, joined by the Idiot and Andy (drums) soon after, 'State of the Nation' ruthlessly stole their name from a former cafe round the corner from the rather luxurious Oasis Market in Birmingham. Andy was replaced by Simon on drums in 2001 who was in turn replaced by The Loff in 2002.
State of the Nation recorded one album, 'Everything Burns A Little Brighter' (2002), and one unititled EP (2003). Despite only performing just over half a dozen live shows the band disbanded in 2004 as its members set off for Uni. Blue Whale Studio's later put on a series of live shows using our name at the Custard Factory. That was nice.
