About Me

"A young man, Lon Eldridge, walked to the front of the dining room. He looked younger than me, and was wearing a non-descript shirt, slip-on tennis shoes, and a handlebar mustache that he was at least two decades too young or two centuries too late to be wearing. Without bravado, he started his show..." "...the ghosts filled the room and took the empty seats around me. Though the group in the room was small and intimate, one could listen and know that we stood in the company of not only the saints and the apostles of religion and gospel, but also of the Delta blues. Saint James sat next to Robert Johnson, both nodding their heads to the music. Lon played the Blues as I haven't heard them since my last trip to Mississippi. He had a voice as pure as Sinatra, lyrics as sharp as a knife, and talent that pierced through time and space, creed and faith."
-Amanda Ringer, from "The Mountain, the Valley, and the Space Between"

Lon Eldridge was raised in the small town of Spring City in East Tennessee. Growing up, he was always surrounded by family members who loved and played music. At age 13, he picked up the guitar for the first time. Ever since then he has crafted his music into his own unique blend of raw Delta blues, driving bluegrass, Gospel, ragtime, and mellow jazz (to name a few). Now age 22, Lon sings with a powerful, moving voice and plays more than ten different instruments, giving him a musical diversity that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Lon has shared the stage with musical greats such as The Lovell Sisters, Mike Farris, David Crowder Band, The Mueller Family, Dan Landrum, and many more...

My name's Lon. I play music. It's a gift that God has given me, and I try to be a good steward of his blessing. I'm a Christian and I am not ashamed of Christ or the Gospel, because they are the power of God for salvation to EVERYONE who believes. Ask me and I'll tell you. Am I perfect, absolutely not. But that is the beauty of grace. There is nothing I could do to make God love me more, or less than He already does. Were this not the case, we (humanity) would be spending our lives in a desperate attempt to please God (which many of us do anyway). The Word (the Bible) says that no one is righteous, not even one (Romans 3, read it, it's good stuff). But the good news is that we are made righteous through Christ's death and RESURRECTION. He was God incarnate and sinless, yet he submitted himself to death for our sake as a perfect sacrifice, that we may live and be reconciled to God and not incur His wrath. It is ONLY through Christ's resurrection that we are made clean. Not through works, or how much we pray, or how many souls "we save". It is through the redeeming love of God. Does this mean that we are to accept salvation and then go about our daily lives as if nothing happened. No! We as believers are to seek God earnestly every day through prayer, studying the Bible, and fellowship with other believers. Works are an external evidence of an internal overflow. Although not necessary for salvation, works are an essential part of a believers life. If you have faith, you have works by default. If you don't have works, then what good is your faith? The Word says that faith without works is dead (James 2). So then what can we resolve? I think Galatians 2:20-21 says it well: "I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not nullify the grace of God, for if justification were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose."

Stuff I've said:
"The idea of dying comfortably disgusts me. I don't want to pass away in a nursing home bed, hooked up to countless machines that keep me alive, with loved ones by my side. Let me die being beaten by a mob of people who hate me because of the Gospel of Christ. Let me die broken, ridiculed as a fool for the sake of Christ. Let me die in a hail of bullets, rather than a hail of mens' applause." -Lon Eldridge
The world often tells us, in a shallow and fleeting attempt at being encouraging, to "never give up" and to "follow your heart". Lies. To that I say, "give up" and "follow His heart". -Lon Eldridge
Salvation is not free, but it is paid for. -Lon Eldridge
