About Me
Mic Burley is a 17 year-old self taught blues harmonica player from the Hawkesbury Valley, NSW, who also sings and plays blues guitar. He formed his first blues band at age 12 and has performed at many festivals and venues in a variety of line-ups since, including The Hawkesbury National Fiddle Festival, Hawkesbury Jazz Festival, The Festival of Sydney’s premier Australia Day event - Country Rocks, The Newtown Festival, Peat’s Ridge Festival, Bimbadgen Blues Festival, The Australian Blues Music Festival, Bridgetown Blues Festival (WA)During the past 24 months, Mic has played in a number of band line-ups from Sydney to Perth. Including regular guest spots and a national album tour to WA with 2006 Music Oz Best Blues Artist winners, Extended Family. As well, he has shared a stage and/or played support for some of the country’s best known blues acts, including Lloyd Spiegel, Chris Wilson, Continental Robert Susz, The Foreday Riders and Chain.Described in press reports as “a young man who blows harp with the soul of a blue devilled grand-daddyâ€, Mic is an emerging artist who is making his mark on the national blues/roots scene.Mic was awarded a John Butler Seed Skills & Professional Grant which allowed him to travel to Western Australia to perform with Lightning Jack at The Bridgetown Blues Festival 2007.Mic will be returning to Western Australia to tour and perform with Jack aswell as other artists in 2008
