HISTORY:
Imago was formed as a simple desire of friends to make music and perform. From that time on, the band started to perform from small production bar gigs to some events all over the metro. They landed a recording contract with Viva Records on the year 2001 and on the same year, released their debut album, Probably Not but Most Definitely.
In the midst of recording their second album, former bassist Arvin Gatmaitan decided to venture on a different path. The band members then called on their friend, Myrene who was at that time playing bass for the band Sandwich, to fill in the spot. Myrene accepted the offer, thus the present line-up. The sophomore album, Take 2, was released independently, late 2004.
A few hits after, the band signed yet another recording contract, this time with Universal Records. They released their third album, BLUSH, August of 2006 while taking part in several special recording projects for compilation/tribute albums.
MUSIC:
Imago’s music has undergone a great change from their original sound. After being initially known as an alterna-rock band leaning towards folk rock music, Imago’s sound has evolved towards pop-alternative sound. Proof is the radical change from Probably Not… to Take 2.
Onstage, the band comes across as a dynamic and powerful act. As a live act, Imago further stresses its sumptuous songs' distinctive mix of melodic lines, striking vocals and meaningful words.
AT PRESENT…
With a string of hits to their credit (Akap, Taralets, Sundo, etc) along with covers they have made for several compilation albums: Spoliarium (Ultraelectromagnetic Jam: an Eraserheads Tribute), and Ewan (Kami nAPO Muna: an APO Hiking Society Tribute), Imago continues to make their rounds and stamps their style in and around town, from clubs to campuses to radio events to TV guestings.
Their hit single Taralets has been the jingle for Head & Shoulders’ TV ad. They were once more invited to take part in the second and final tribute album for APO Hiking Society, Kami nAPO Muna Ulit, and in the upcoming second part of Hopia Mani Popcorn2.
Their latest single, Under Repair has just been released. On a different note, television and radio now witnesses Imago as the band welcomes 2008 as endorsers of Japanese food chain, Tokyo-Tokyo.
