Greetings! My name is Rob. I hail from the good ol’ farming town of Gloucesterrrrr (not that great really), in Southwest England. I would first and foremost describe myself as very odd! (Whether that be in a good way or a bad way, I’ll leave that for you to decide :P)
I have a burning passion for anything musical, or related to music of any form. Whether embracing, creating or performing, nothing comes close to giving me that drive or capturing that emotion like music does! I am myself a musician. I’m a bit of an all-rounder. But, vocals, guitar and bass are my main instruments.
I’m a bit of a chameleon when it comes to music taste; one minute I’ll be in the mood for some 80s synthpop, then I’ll be relaxing to a fine bitta’ Celtic folk, then next thing you know I’ll be blasting out some savage black metal! Although my biggest passion lies within the darker realms of Doom & Gothic metal/rock, so basically anything from The Sisters of Mercy to My Dying Bride! I love it! But, my favourite band has been for a long time and always will be Paradise Lost. Not only has their music always blown me away more than any other, but over eleven studio albums, they have proved that they have no fear whatsoever of drastically changing their style. Also, they were responsible for combining the two styles of music that I adore the most! I take my hat off to Mr. Gregor Mackintosh.
The most valuable lesson I have learned is that life is too short to give a flying fuck about what people think of you! Over the last couple of years I have grown accustomed to dressing how I want, listening to what I want and saying what I want without being concerned of irrelevant people’s opinions. Why feel the need to be restricted based on what a bunch of narrow-minded morons think of you? I take pride in being individual. After all, the individual makes a great deal more sense than society these days.
I currently work part-time as a landscape gardener, which in all honesty… isn’t too bad! Okay, I’d rather not wake up at the crack-of-dawn to dig trenches or put fences up all day, but compared to some other jobs I see a lot of people stuck with… Well, let’s just say I’m glad that I don’t have to deal with customers :D
I study Music Technology at Gloucestershire College simply to further my knowledge on the music production/sound engineering/science of sound side of things.
From a very early age, I have always had a penchant for dark, macabre, morbid and twisted things. So much in fact, that it has become a key personality trait of mine that many people seem to identify me with. I have always been the one who would prefer to stick on a horror film than an action film. I have always been the one who would prefer to sit in the middle of a cold, desolate cemetery, in the dead of the night, than sit on a sunny beach.
Through life, I have developed very frequently occurring pessimistic, misanthropic and melancholic tendencies. I dislike humanity as a whole and the world today often disgusts me. That being said, as long you accept me for who I am and you come across as reasonably down-to-earth, I’m sure we’ll get on like a house on fire! After all, I strive to be the nicest guy I can… to those who I feel are worthy of it. I have some great friends, who I couldn’t live without!
I also have the most amazing and loveliest girlfriend I could possibly wish for in Clare Webster <3 I have finally found my sweet dark angel, who I totally click with. I love her to bits! She makes me happy, even during the darkest times of my life! And sometimes it scares me how much we have in common ^_^ I love you, Clarey <3 xxx
Anything else you wish to know, feel free to ask! ^_^
