About Me

Who is Rico? That is the hardest question anyone could possibly answer."Rico" Was born September 21 1987 in the Bronx, New York. He grew up with music in his heart. He grew up listening to Legends like Sugar Hill Gang, The Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac, The "Fresh Prince" & the Fugees. He listened to music on the radio when ever his mother wasn't home. He did this because being that his mother was oldschool and Hispanic, all she ever listened to was Soul R&B and Spanish music. So when ever Hip-Hop came on she changed the station. Being that Rico was only 5 years old. He couldn't have his own radio in his room. He hated that he couldn't listen to his favorite song "Rapper's Delight" by Sugar Hill Gang. So he decided to get smart. He got a "Talk Boy" (A personal recorder from the movie "Home Alone 2") For Christmas. He went to his father's house on the weekends occasionally due to the seperation of his parents. At the age of seven he recorded "Rapper's Delight" with his "Talk Boy" once he heard the song playing on the radio. He listen to the song over & over until he memorized it. Thats when he realized that music was for him.
At the age of 10 he moved from New York and came down south to Miami, Florida where his cousin "C-Lo" lived. Rebelling against his mother for taking him away from his family in New York he had many problems at home & in school. That's when recording started. For years Rico was a "Thug" and skipped school & fought all the time until his Cousin C-Lo sat him down and rapped a song to him. It was about hard times. At that point Rico wanted to rap. Rico wanted to express his feelings through music. He wanted to tell the world that he hated being by himself & having no father to guide him in the right direction. That's when he recorded "Mr. Diaz". C-lo showed Rico a program called "Mixcraft" that could record voices and mix instrumentals together to make a song. All they needed was a mic. They were 13 & 12 and couldn't work. So they decided to ask for money from family members. Once they had enough cash, they went to Walmart and bought a computer mic. Rico started to write "Mr. Diaz". The song was directed towards his father who decided not to be in Rico's life for unknown reasons. After writing a Hook & three verses Rico knew it was time. He recorded the song and mixed and mastered it himself. Being that it was recorded on a personal computer it didn't have the best quality. The song was a personal statement to his father. So he found his fathers number and recorded the song on his voicemail so his father could hear it. Then he moved to Daytona beach Where he Met Mr. Ex.
Rico became best friends with Mr. Ex through high school. They both were into Hip-Hop so they got along well. Rico let Mr. Ex listen to Mr. Diaz after listening to all of Mr. Ex's home recorded music. Mr. Ex was impressed. They decided to do recordings on Rico's home computer. After graduating High School together Mr. Ex introduced the new label Ruthless Killa Records to Rico. Mr. Ex had created the label along side of J.A.G.2 in the loving memory of Jaquise Dent. Rico immediately became a fan. He supplied them with beats that he found onine that he thought were suitible for both Mr. Ex & J.A.G.2. One day Mr. Ex decided to let Rico meet J.A.G.2 and they became friends. Mr. Ex continued to incourage Rico to write a song and record at a professional studio. Rico finally listened and wrote a song called "Ima Do It". It was the first professional song he had ever done. The song was about him making it through the struggle being a single father. Rico presented the song to J.A.G.2 and he was impressed. Rico asked J.A.G.2 if he could be apart of the Ruthless Killa crew. J.A.G.2 just had one statement: "You be loyal to me and I'll be loyal to you". Ever since that statement Rico developed into an outstanding artist recording with J.A.G.2 & Mr. Ex. J.A.G.2 decided to make a solo mixtape called "Da World Iz Mine" while Mr. Ex and Rico were recording "Untouchables". Rico didn't think a group Mixtape was enough for him. He wanted to release his own Mixtape. So he stayed loyal to J.A.G.2 and recorded 8 tracks on "untouchables" while recording his solo mixtape "Rookie Of The Year" which included 19 tracks. J.A.G.2 was astonished. They both had solo Mixtapes out and sold out of each others trunk and J.A.G.2 sold over 7000 copied of his solo. Rico sold 4500 copies. Untouchables which was sold by All three of the Killas sold over 3800 copies. Rico felt accomplished. He was only a rookie and was living off of his hustle due to the recent layoff he had received. Rico wanted more. Rico's passion began to grow. Rico wanted to be known. He knew he had what it took due to the positive feedback from his first mixtape. He had 2 singles off of Rookie Of The Year go Number one in Bermuda on power 95. "Like Me" which set the record at seven weeks in a row as number one on the top five (Which was later broken by J.A.G.2' "Shawty there He Go" at 8 weeks in a row after Rico introduced the station to J.A.G.2). Rico departed from the station for several months to due family issues, but is back at it again with his song of 2008 in Bermuda "Goon 2 A Goblin". Rico & J.A.G.2 are continuing to drop singles together and alone to power 95 until this day. J.A.G.2 Released "Legend In The Makin" in Feburary and Rico's Street Album "MVP" is due to hit the streets in July. The industry awaits "Rico" the "MVP" to be one of the hottest Hip-Hop artist since 2pac. Let's see if he can accomplish his goal.
