About Me

Pastor James 0. Brewton, Jr. is a native of Claxton, Georgia. Pastor Brewton attended Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1982 with a B.S. degree in History Education. He also earned a Master of Public Management degree from FAMU in 1987. Pastor Brewton worked at FAMU for ten years in several capacities, including counselor for the Upward Bound Program, Curriculum Coordinator for the Student Support Program, Coordinator of the College Reach-Out Program, Coordinator of Student Financial Aid, Assistant Professor of History, and "radio voice" of the FAMU basketball teams from 1985-92. In March 1992, Pastor Brewton moved back to Claxton, and received his ordination for ministry in July. He was ordained Elder in December 1997 and promoted to Assistant Pastor and Church Administrator of Bible Way Deliverance Church. Pastor Brewton hosted the "Victory in Praise" Sunday School Lesson on WCLA Radio from March 1997 until July 2000. During this same time period he taught the Adult Sunday School Class and conducted the weekly Bible Study. He has been in full-time ministry since June 1,1998. In 2000, Pastor Brewton became assistant to Pastor Scottie Johnson at Seedtime and Harvest Ministry in Jesup, GA, where he gained valuable experience and training in Tent Ministry and Prophetic Ministry. Pastor Brewton received further training in theology from Dr. G.E. Bradshaw, Th.D., Th.M., B. A. Theology, of Chicago, IL. In 2002, Pastor Brewton established Community Empowerment Ministries, Inc. in Estill, SC. He is the author of A Slave of Circumstance, published in 2005. He is currently seeking an agent for his latest book, Once Upon A High: A Backslider's Story. He assumed the pastorate at Bible Way Deliverance Church on August 6, 2006.
