Bite Size

About Me

BiteSize is Chris, Jason, Ed, and Allison's band that has performed a few hundred shows around the Tampa Bay area since 1995. BiteSize has released two double albums on Facefirst Records: "Everythings's Rosy" and "Orchestra De Bite Size." Ed Swain, Morty, and Jeff Beyer have all supplied drums at one time or another. Allison joined on keyboards shortly before the band moved to Minneapolis in 2005 and changed the name to Alameda. For more info go to the Alameda page. Alameda is currently making a record for a midwest indie label to be released later this year. It will not be a double album. THE 1st ANNUAL BITESIZE IN THE BAY SHOW was at the Globe in St. Petersburg, 2007. Stay tuned for details on the 2nd Annual BiteSize in the Bay event.

Sounds Like: Sweat-drenched beer-soaked 20 songs in 60 minutes live sets WHO IS ALAMEDA!? An indie power-pop new-wave country-punk rock-n-roll band based in Minneapolis, MN. Alameda's first CD, "Everything's Rosy" is 26 songs recorded on analog 8-track with plenty of piano, guitars, organ, trumpet, mandolin, accordion, saxophone, theremin and French horn. Freedom horn? No digital tampering. The music critic for the Tampa Tribune, Curtis Ross, lamented in a review, "It should have been a hit in a perfect world." Gina Vivenetto, music critic for the St. Petersburg Times, Scott Harrell music critic for FOCUS Music Magazine, and Stefanie Kalem, rock critic for Weekly Planet/Creative Loafing, all gave "Everything's Rosy" glowing reviews and lots of stars. Alameda is a piano driven affair with Christopher and Allison sharing vocals and songwriting. Chris wrote and sang all the songs to date out of neccesity but Allison is now singing and writing half of the band's material. Alameda is as a five piece rock band, but when performing acoustically as a duo, they make with shimmering piano and sensitive duets. Alameda play upbeat heart-on-sleeve pop songs for anyone who will listen. Allison supplies the keyboards and Chris shreds riffs and tasty licks on guitar and mandolin. Alameda's second home is/was Tampa, Florida where the band formed before relocating to the Twin Cities in the cold-ass Winter of 2005. They met while she was teaching at the University of South Florida. Chris was freelance writing and playing in too many bands. They started the Alameda with Ed Swain beating the drums and Jason Hinders on bass. The Florida boys had all played together for a decade in the recently defunct BiteSize. "Everything's Rosy" was mostly recorded at Chris and Jason's practic pad/house. It was enginneered by James Bess (of Dumbwaiters) and Steven Seachrist for the price of tape and beer. Chris and Allison hijacked the band to her homestate of Minnesota to live, play, and record. In 2006, they met Sam and John. Sam's on bass and Johnny pounds the drums. Alameda has performed fun gigs recently in the Twin Cities at the Uptown Bar, Acadia Cafe, Varsity Theater, O'Gara's Garage, Station 4, the Red Sea, Hexagon, Toybox, and Jungle Red. The band has also played these fine Florida establishments: Pegasus Lounge, New World Brewery, the Emerald Bar, Covivant Gallery, Brass Mug, Yeoman's Road, the Orpheum, Neptune Lounge, James Joyce Pub, Harbor Club, State Theater, Masquerade, Tavern On The Green, Skipper's Smokehouse, Stone Lounge, Club Detroit, Oak Barrell, the Rubb, Gyland's, Voodoo Lounge, the Liar's Club, Red Star, Recovery Room, and the Ritz. The band is currently working on their second album. Please take a listen to our songs and come out to a show. Rock on!Alameda's Friend Space Alameda has 5699 friends.
