Betty Pearl s..est fondé en 2006 autour de 6 musiciens au goût prononcé pour la Funk, les 60..s et la scène. Très loin d..être un simple " cover band" de James Brown, Betty Pearl est une force funkadelic qui jamais ne laisse son public les pieds vissés au Dancefloor. Voila maintenant plus d..un an que les survivants Lyonnais de la funk OldSchool donnent des couleurs psychédéliques aux studios Cava Loca de la Friche RVI (Lyon).

Cadencé par l..implaquable Rythmique de Bob Power et Winston Supreme, le sextet allie le groove puissant et la mélodie Fine. Le piano (John Soul),la Flûte (Gomoy Kun) et le Sax Ténor de Brian Emotion jouent et improvisent des airs aussi légers qu..envoûtants. Soutenus par la guitare dynamisante de Peter Love ils font de leur musique vintage un véritable pamphlet pour la danse, la joie et le mouillage intense de chemise "col pelle à tarte".

Le plus de Betty Pearl? Pas de voix. Non, ici on innove, remplacer le chant par des montages vidéos. Des titres intenses pour suivre Beyond the valley of the dolls et d..autres plus explosifs pour lancer la fusée de Casino Royal. Jouer un concert comme la bande son d..un film de Russ Meyer ou Mario Bava, voila pourquoi chaque gigs de Betty Pearl est un fantastique show mélangeant musique et cinéma sixties. Plus qu..un groupe de funk Betty Pearl en concert c..est un concept qui imagine une rencontre entre Curtis Mayfield, Lalo Schifrin et Betty Davis accompagnant "Barbarella" de Roger Vadim.

Jouant de leur univers retro Betty Pearl est un groupe de scène, des grooveurs intarissables qui ont pour seul objectif de faire danser l..audience. Voir les hanches se secouer dès que la première note d..un beat ravageur s..accompagne des mêmes larmes de sueurs que George Clinton, des cris incontrôlés poussant le spectateur dans une fièvre furieuse pour le DanceFloor, ceux des cris qui ne se chantent pas, qui se vivent dans les pas : " C..mon people, let..s dance"

Betty Pearl was born in 2006 around 6 musicians with a pronounced taste for funk, the 60s and gigging. Far from being a simple James Brown “cover band”, Betty Pearl is a funkadelic force that never lets its audiences with their feet screwed into the dancefloor. It’s been more than one year now that these Lyons survivors of the OldSchool funk give psychedelic colours to the Cava Loca studios at the Friche RVI (Lyons).

Cadenced by the implaquable rhythm of Bob Power and Winston Supreme, the sextet combines both powerful groove and fine melody. The tunes played and improvised by John Soul (piano), Gomoy Kun (flute) and Brian Emotion (tenor saxophone) are as light as enchanting. Sustained by the dynamic guitar of Peter Love they make their vintage music into a real pamphlet for dance, joy and an intense soaking of old-fashioned shirts.

What else distinguises Betty Pearl? No voice. No, they innovate and replace singing by video staging. Intense titles to follow Beyond the Valley of the Dolls and others even more explosive intended to launch the Casino Royal rocket. Every gig by Betty Pearl is like playing the sound track of either a Russ Meyer or Mario Bava movie, a fantastic show mixing music and movies from the Sixties. More that a funk band Betty Pearl in concert is a concept imagining a meeting between Curtis Mayfield, Lalo Schifrin and Betty Davis accompanying Roger Vadim’s "Barbarella".

While playing its old-fashioned universe Betty Pearl is a gigging group made up of inexhaustible groovers whose only objective consists of making the audience dance. The hips shake as soon as the first notes of a devastating beat get accompanied by sweat tears like with George Clinton, while uncontrolled screams that are not sung but lived by the feet push the bystander to the dancefloor possessed by a furious fever: “C’mon people, let’s dance”
