MySpace BlogThe name "N'Hommad" has been chosen not only to reflect the spirit of its music but also the diversity of its musical influences ("Hommes" in french means "Humans").The idea of N'Hommad came to the mind of Mynah Marie during spring 2006 as she was traveling across Canada with her accordeon on her shoulders. She and her traveling companion hitchhicked from city to city making street performances to earn some money. She was amazed by the way people were easily caught up in the magic of music and circus when they performed on the streets and how people would talk to them with dreams of taking the road in their eyes mixed with some incomprehension of their lifestyle. As time went by, the desire to create a band that would inspire the exact same things to it's crowd grew stronger and stronger. With plenty of adventures in her backpack and her accordeon a little tired and bruised, she returned to Montreal where she met Brice Gatinet, a guitar player, student at the University of Montreal with Mike Gauthier. After a first friendly jam session they decided to start this adventure together. With the addition of Brigitte Dajczer at the violin and Patrick Dugas on drums and percussions, N'Hommad has found its third and fourth members. Since the begining, the musicians of N'Hommad collaborated with numerous musicians such as Anit Ghosh at the violin (La Chango Family), Marie Saintonge at the flute (Hassan Elhadi), Lou Boustani at the Manouche guitar (Manouche Swing) and Daniel Labrosse at the double bass (Kevin Parent). They are still looking forward to expand the family."To kill the nomad is to kill the part of dream where every society draws its need of renewal."-Gypsy proverb-
