I've done some serious growing up over the past year of my life.
I always thought I was "oh so grown up" before, but I've gone through so many ups and downs, met exciting new people and lost old dear friends, fallen in love and ended relationships this year, that I just know this is what being an adult really feels like.
I've become more of a social butterfly, and with the new extroverted Kayla comes social aspects I'm sure someone won't like. I believe you can accept me for who I am or kick me out of your life completely. I used to just want so badly to fit in, but now I realize it really is about standing out and being your own self. I've realized my stances in political issues and with that, I have more understanding in who I am. I wish people would just get along and realize that everyone is different and we can't change that, but I understand that this is reality we're talking about. That will never happen, so many people are afraid of change! I am completely, 100% devoted to supporting gay rights; people should be able to love who they want to love without being judged for it. Any Christian who says otherwise completely contradicts their religion that is always accepting and all-forgiving.
It's not your religion telling you it's wrong, it's you being judgemental!
(Now that's not very Christian-like, is it?) I'm really not much of the religious type, honestly. I believe what I believe, but most churches anymore just seem hungry for power and otherwise greedy. I believe that many people who teach the Bible contradict it, which is really creating pseudo-religion and therefore, pseudo-followers. I'm not the type of person to shove all my beliefs down everyone's throats, so I'd appreciate it if you gave me the same common courtesy. :) I'm not sure what I want to do with my life, but I'm being as patient as I can, hoping that sometime soon I'll find something that I'm super-passionate about. I am a total animal lover, and my dream career would involve taking care of them, but I'm just not too sure yet. But hey! I'm young, and I have plenty of time to figure that out when the time comes along! =] It's funny that we all talk like we know who we are, but you'll understand what I'm saying when that day comes for you (if it hasn't already! :]). I do what I like and say what I want (not professionally, of course!) and if you don't like that, then that's really too bad. I try desperately to be everyone's friend and find something I like in everyone. It's not my place to judge people, so I try really hard not to do that (but hey, we're all human right?). I think that if you aren't completely happy with where you are in life, you need to be the person to change that. Smile every once in a while, take on the world, do something completely out of your comfort zone.. Just live a little! Don't take everything I say to heart, nine times out of ten, there's at least a *hint* of sarcasm there. ;) Since I met this really amazing guy, I've been trying to turn my life around, and I'd say it's working. I've paid off some debts, made new friends, and now I'm looking to get a few more hours with a job so that I can get my own place! :) Exciting stuff, yes? I believe so, but maybe I'm just finally truly understanding my personal mantra:
BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE.
Yeah, it's hard at times, but the challenge is worthwhile. I'm probably the easiest person in the world to make smile. That's probably all you care to know about me, but if you need to know anything, I'm a very open person... Feel free to ask :]
