A Beast

About Me

A Beast as we know it was screamingly conceived in September 2005. Consisting of four painfully average - though not in the least dull - guys which had way too much spare time on their hands. These four, all being leftovers or wasteproducts from the musical scene of Volda, Norway, soon gave up the thought of playing someone else's music for fun, and started producing music on their own, strongly influenced by a wide array of artists and bands, such as Tool, A Perfect Circle, Deftones, Porcupine Tree, American Head Charge and their former bands and projects.
Their focusing not as much on instrumental virtuosity as Refined Harmonies and powerful arrangements earned them the respect of the locals, and later on, the random listeners from all over the country.
Originally intended to be a pastime project, their lack of ambition and honest being soon made the whole thing grow right out of its proportions. Before they knew it, they were featured on a local CD-compilation, filled well renowned Student Rock Scenes to the brim, supported Norwegian Screamo-phenomenon Torch and performed for an audience of 950 in the concert hall in Trondheim.
Needless to say, these otherwise quite content lads got blood on their teeth, and started making plans for the years to come. The first step towards national recognition would be the release of "Closure EP" in 2007, but this project met unexpected difficulties and has yet to be finished.
A Beast was a band whose values leaned more towards acceptance and bliss than currency and fame, and should they every reform it would be for these reasons.
Until then: Thank you for your time, your closed eyes and nodding heads, and last but not least: Your kind words.
Be sure to check out these great bands:
Chasm - B.'s Main Band
Afterbirth - Danny's Other Band
16th Valve - Danny's Main Band
Ribozyme - Our good friends from the south

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: B.: Vocals & Guitars

Formerly the lead singer of small-town-supergroup GritFist and a dozen other event-acts and studio projects. An avid fan of Jesu and other, even more obscure acts like Nadja and Textures . Part-time Bartender and techician at Rust Club & Scene . At the time devoting himself to work with Chasm , doing Bass and Vocals.

Alen: Bass

Formed GritFist along with B., fall 2003. Now in a musical hiatus, Bartending full-time.

Christ: Guitars

Had his live debut with A Beast. Currently in a musical hiatus.

Danny: Drums

Had his debut as a drummer in A Beast. Previously known from 16th Valve doing Lead Vocals. Currently touring and recording with Afterbirth , and doing minor gigs as a DJ and Lighting Tech.
Influences: Everyone who ever made good music with a Gibson, Washburn or Fender, every drummer who ever broke a drumstick on a cymbal, and every lead singer who ever passed out on stage or busted a SM-58 with just the power of his voice.
Sounds Like: Teen angst and failed relationships, with a good producer and an even better stylist.
Type of Label: Major
