About Me

Jánnos Eolou is a multi-talented artist with his major art being Music. He was born in Greece. He studied in the U.K. and the U.S. Mechanical Engineering, as well as Music (composition, improvisation, orchestration –Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television.) He is a prolific composer, a very skilled orchestrator, an experienced producer, an art director, a writer, a director… a creative person… He has composed music for the cinema, the theatre, contemporary dance companies, the concert hall and for album songs. He has worked as a recording producer, as a session conductor as well as a sound engineer.His works have been distributed, performed, enjoyed in more than 30 countries, and he has sold many tens of thousands of CDs.In 1999 he started creating multimedia spectacles combining many art forms in an effort to tell a story evoking emotions. His most prominent work is The Dance of the Dead Roses, a performance combining symphonic music, contemporary dance, cinema, poetry, video art utilizing a 100+ orchestra. The work was performed in more than 40 performances with thrilling reviews.Since 2000 he has started writing virtuosic chamber group works crafting arrangements of rembetico for classical instruments as well as minimalistic style quartets like The Narkissus Suite which engages a classical quarter, a piano, a contra basso and an ensemble of Middle Eastern Percussion.In 2002 he composed the score for the film SOLINO, by Fatih Akin, the celebrated German director of Turkish origin. The score was released on a soundtrack CD by BMG GmbH and had a great impact to audiences of over 30 countries.His film scores were twice nominated for Best Original Score Award for Dramatic Works by the Greek Ministry of Culture (2004 for the film Wintry Nostalgia by Kostas Aenian & 2006 for the film A Hero in Rome by Panos Angelopoulos – Soundtrack released by EMI).In 2007 Jannos composed the Narcissus Suite, a chamber hybrid work for string section, piano and a Mid Eastern percussion ensemble, as well as the full size symphonic work Quintessence based on the Aristotle’s theory of five elements. In 2008 he completed the scoring of 2 feature film documentaries ‘The Diary of a New York Thiev’ by the Dutch director Klaas Bense (production by Egmond film & TV) and ‘Bells, Threads & Miracles by Greek director Mariana Economou.As most Mediterranean composers do, Jánnos Eolou composes music for songs, a very popular art form in this part of the world, linked in story telling maybe equally as all other art forms. ‘Amorosa’, his new album is a good example of it.You can listen to samples of his works on www.eolou.com or ask for a free sample - audio CD.
