Hello, I am Hannah. My birthday is in August. At present, I am nearly finished year 12. I'm not really very ordinary. Apparently I'm something like 73% quirky. I don't like stereotypes though. I am awfully caught up in a realm of art, music, photography, literature and art-house films. Next year I plan to study photo-journalism at Griffith QLD College of Art. I am quite looking forward to going there. I am very interested in people and the way they go about things. I don't believe that small things amuse small minds. It's quite the opposite, I think. If one cannot understand something simple, or appreciate the core value of something, then how are they to understand the complexities that come afterwards? I find simple pleasure in reading a book on a rainy day, climbing trees or capturing birds in flight as an image in a photograph. From lighting storms and the smell of a box of coloured pencils. I love old things and gumboots and tiny, little drawings. Attics, strange dreams, op-shops and hand-written letters. I admire people who are thoughtful, open, and convey themselves in a manner that is purely them. When acts of spontaneity bring light to a conversation. I love the ability to forget reality, although it's quite a nuisance. Completed sketchbooks and large paintings...vast, white walls. I love titian red locks upon immaculate white skin, and very, very long films. Time alone in a house all to myself, and never-ending stories are what I love.
Films that I find wonderful include: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, 2046, Amelie, Moulin Rouge, The Virgin Suicides, The Science of Sleep, Lost in Translation, Napoleon Dynamite, Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus, Elizabethtown, Daisies (Sedmikrasky), A Clockwork Orange, One Hour Photo, Punch-Drunk Love. There are so many more, but this is a nice, neat list. I really love road trip movies and foreign films about artists or musicians or ordinary people. Silent films are powerful. I adore those, especially, starring Louise Brooks or Clara Bow. I think I posted some of those in my blog...
Instrumental, folk, indie, jazz, accoustic and alternative rock are the genres I prefer. A very short list of favourites would include: Joanna Newsom, Devendra Banhart, The Be Good Tanyas, Feist, The Beatles, Andrew Bird, Red House Painters, Lovers Electric, Simon and Garfunkle, Little Red, Cat Power, CocoRosie, Peter and the Wolf, Antony and the Johnsons, Apoacalyptica, Sigur Ros, Yann Tiersen, Gregory and The Hawk, Jack Johnson, Mirah, The Audreys, The Howling Bells, Brandi Carlile, The Strokes, Sarah Blasko, Susumu Yokota, Regina Spektor, Frog Eyes, Grizzly Bear, Electric Light Orchestra, Little Birdy, Belle and Sebastian, Coldplay, Jessica Fletchers, The Grates...And then there's a long list of 80's and Jazz faves to mention too...
