B3 Madness

About Me

B3Madness is an organ trio that aspires to the impressionistic and expressionistic. The band's goal is to create fresh, new music that always feels 'live', featuring spirited improvisation.NICOLE THORNE-Jazz organist/pianist “Get off that organ and come and eat!” I heard that sentence from the age of 12 until I was 18. Then I studied and played jazz piano, until...I acquired a Hammond B3000 in 2005 and can’t get my fingers/feet away from it. I feel entirely at home when sitting at the B3, its like I’ve always played jazz organ.Nicole's unusually extensive use of the organ foot pedal bass, learnt in her formative years, gives her dynamic musical flexibility. This makes for a visually exciting and musically entertaining performance. Tunes can go in different and exciting directions at any point, keeping the musical adventure fresh for the musicians and an audience. B3Madness performances promise immediacy, not the 'expected'.Supporting Nicole are two very exciting and experienced musicians-Nick Pearce of alto and Mark Voogd on Drums. The trio communicate effortlessly allowing creativity and a sense of openness when improvising.NICK PEARCE - Alto Sax - Focusing on highly emotive sheets of sound, Nick has turned away from the mundane. The alto player originally from Tasmania is continually searching for new approaches which use abrasive mannerisms blended with occasional legato Paul Desmond echoes.'Throughly enjoyable!' was how Steve Roberson from 3PBS 'Jazz on Saturday' described a gig of the 'Madness'. 'I would urge everyone to catch up with the band when they next play.'For more information / bookings, phone Nicole 0408 591 023 email:[email protected]
