My Story "I guess I was destined to be a restless wanderer with music in my soul"… Jamison was born in 1973 into a very musical family and was on the road with his parents own band before he was a year old. They traveled around a good portion of the United States for his first 6 yrs, living in an old beat up school bus, hotel rooms and occasionally his grandparents farm in Southern Ohio. Their travels took them from home base in Ohio, working in more than 10 different states, and passing through most of the rest. When they finally settled down for awhile Jamison's musical path was already set. All he wanted was a piano. By 8 or 9 Jamison had connected with his big brother who had taken to the drums and 2 of his cousins. They formed a young rock group with Jamison in the bass guitar spot and some vocals as well as some keyboards. During this time Jamison managed to keep one foot in "normal" life, keeping up with his school and sports activities, and one foot in the rock n' roll world. Days were spent in school and playing baseball on an All Star traveling team with nights in recording and photo studios or on stage. His Grandpa still mourns the loss of a potential big leaguerBy the age of 12 the family band had changed. Big brother Mike was no longer there. Things were more intense. The band was billed as The Youngest Heavy Metal Band in the World and playedall over Northeastern Ohio, opening for most of the “big” locals and national acts such as L.A. Guns. Unfortunately this was not to last. His cousins decided to pursue music in L.A. in search of "fortune and fame".Jamison continued on his musical path, taking on the challenge of fronting his own band. It was a great success. Very quickly “Rattlebratt” was opening at all the major clubs, (headlining was still difficult since onlyone of the members was over 16!) and opening for national bands like Warrant. Jamie rose to the challenge of being a front man as if he had been born there. An exciting performer he kept the audience and band members on their toes. The post L.A. days were a flurry of activity. …At the ripe old age of 16 he had had enough of the music ”scene”. During this time Jamie kept playing music; but alone. He seemed to be trying to soak up the very essence of all types of music . He went from studying the Beatles, to Elvis, Sinatra, Greatful Dead, Bob Marley Willie, Waylon, Mearl and "the Hanks". He took all his influences and began a journey in life taking him back out on the road seeing the beautiful land from S Florida to N California, all the while developing his own heartfelt style of raw, Country, Folk , Bluegrassy music overlayed by lyrics of pure emotion and human experience. During this time Jamison went searching for the meaning of life…he lived off the land, learned to make and play different instruments. He became a Rainbow person, a street person and a traveler. He mined quartz in Arkansas, prayed with the Indians in Arizona, slept with the homeless in New York City, found and lost love, sometimes walked on the wrong side of the law.…and poured what he felt and learned into his music. Somewhere along the way he came back to his roots. In the late 90's Jamison went back to the family farm and began building his life and home there in the beautiful South-Eastern hills of Monroe County, Ohio. There he regained his passion to build his career in music, recording his songs , playing local shows, and taking brief trips out of state to perform at places like Tootsie's and the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville and the Roadhouse in S. California , as well as The Capital Music Theater in Wheeling W. Virginia. He has placed very well in several talent shows such as, 1st runner up in Jamboree USA Starquest, 2nd runner up in Ohio Valley Local finals of the Colgate Showdown, and he also placed in the top 5 of the W. Virginia/Kentucky local finals of the Nashville Star contest. Today when you talk with Jamie you will find man filled with compassion for the earth and his fellow man. A person who still has a restless heart and a driving need to experience life to it’s fullest. but also a quieter, gentler Jamie. Someone who worries over his Grandma and hopes to have children of his own someday. Who speaks with a slow polite southern Ohio drawl…and writes songs that touch the heart.
