The short of it is:I'm a jazz pianist/ trombonist/ composer/ arranger in the Detroit area. I play music full-time, splitting my time between performance and education. I am currently a professor of music at Bowling Green State University in Ohio and travel to other universities to conduct clinics on jazz arranging, composition, and performance. I also teach a few select, private students out of my house.My 16-piece group "Scott Gwinnell Jazz Orchestra", has been together off and on for 7 years and has provided me with an outlet for my writing as well a way to get to play with some of the best talent that Detroit has to offer. We play every Wednesday at a top-notch jazz club downtown, called Cliff Bells.
