I am heavily into ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC (EDM). I have been in the club scene since around 1990. I started at a young age at warehouse parties, then went on to DJ and work in the club business. My first ever experience was at a loft party called "Marcia Brady's Bedroom" and I have been hooked ever since.
I have worked doing promotion for GODSKITCHEN & GLOBAL GATHERING, SPUNDAE (in the USA and in Mexico), TRACK ENTERTAINMENT, CLUBPLANET, WANTICKETS, NOCHE LATINA, GIANT, KEEN ENTERTAINMENT, ACTION MEDIA, HOT IMPORT NIGHTS, THE HOUSE OF BLUES - SUNSET STRIP, TIESTO NYE & 'IN CONCERT' 2004/2005, VIP AUTO FASHION, THE INK & IRON FESTIVAL, LA WINE FEST, SF LOVE FESTIVAL... 2004-2005 - GODSKITCHEN at THE HENRY FONDA THEATER in HOLLYWOOD. I was the Operations Manager for the weekly club and worked with Neil Thomas. I have long standing relationships with people like Indie Radio-LA, LA & OC Weekly, Clubplanet, 944 Magazine, LA.com and many others.
DJ - - - 1994 is when I started playing. I got really into it when I put in a DJ Booth for a club-culture Clothing Store I opened way back in 1995. The store's name was Deep Red and was mostly club clothing, DJ mix tapes (remember those?) and other non-essentials. I kept the store open for about 1 year, and then decided to go into Club Promotion more seriously. I have done many clubs myself and worked with a TON of different artists, promoters, radio stations, record labels and mktg firms, in one capacity or another.
As a DJ myself, I have been fortunate enough to DJ in places like Toronto, Atlantic City, Philly, New York, Seattle, Portland, Tempe, Las Vegas, Dallas, Houston, San Diego, Denver, Sacramento, San Francisco and of course my hometown, Los Angeles.
More recently I lived and worked in MEXICO and played a TON of gigs in cities like MERIDA, TULUM, VERA CRUZ, PLAYA DEL CARMEN and CANCUN. Great times at O Ultra Lounge, Basic, Chocolate City, Roof Garden, Bling, Nuddy Beach, La Santanera, El Cielo (Playa del Carmen and Merida), Blue Parrot, La Bartola, Bar Rio-Antiguo, Ana y Jose's & Mezzanine.
I have been Playing a lot of different stuff in the past couple of years too. I had caught wind of some of the stuff going on with people like Axwell, Eric Prydz, Steve Angello, MYLO, Jesse Garcia, D. Ramirez and Different Gear awhile back, but I have really started diggin' on this new blend of Tech-House, Electro & Minimal lately. I heard a lot of it when living in Mexico and hearing so many different styles and new sounds that have not really hit yet in the States.
DJ & Producers like M.A.N.D.Y., Fuzzy Hair, Tiefschwarz, Booka Shade, Funkerman, MSTRKRFT, Tocadisco, Buick Project, Steve Bug, DJ T, Laidback Luke, TV Rock, almost anything on Ed Banger Records and so many other producers from the UK, France, Germany, Italy and beyond...AND being able to mix it with some older (AND recent) stuff from The Freaks, Roger S, Greenskeepers, Matthew Herbert, Phono Records, Paper Music, Moodyman, Josh Wink, Mood II Swing, Theo Parish, DJ Tonka and more.
There is some really cool and interesting new music out there..its made DJing exciting again!
