Carnage 45 aka Shawn Dix was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. No one had any idea that a new chapter in history began on April 1st 1985. Growing up just like many other kids from his generation there was no father at home. His motivation to do something major in life came from watching his mother work hard and struggle to make ends meet. At the age of 16 he started rapping. His first inspirations to rap were his close friend Vega and the Nas I am album. Before he began recording he put his talent to the test in battles and ciphers. That helped him gain a local reputation. After graduating from Northampton High School in 2003 he moved to Grand Rapids Michigan. He wanted to expand his reputation to a new area. After a strong buzz in the streets of Grand Rapids he caught the ears of a close friend of Floyd Mayweather. A meeting was planned for Carnage and Mayweather but, due to personal circumstances that meeting never occurred. Carnage moved back to Virginia devastated by the loss of his grandmother. He had to start from scratch all over again. In 2004 he started recording. Instead of following trends he decided to stay in the lane that inspired him to make music in the first place. Power music is what he calls his style of rap. Progressive hip-hop made to enlighten, educate, and uplift the streets is his definition of power music. His goal with his music is to inspire people to make the most out of life and make better decisions. After seeing friends and peers fall victim to the streets he felt like someone needed to be the positive voice of his generation. It took a lot of courage to go against the grain but, he fought his way through. In 2007 Carnage was contacted by the head A&R from Jazze Pha’s Sho-Nuff records. A deal was on the table but, the label declined at the last minute. A week later he landed his first major mixtape spot on DJ Diggz And Rated R’s Potent Product 5 with the underground single “Everythingâ€. In just a few months later that same track got him a spot on The Source 2008Unsigned Hype Tour. DJ Jack of Spade was the first DJ to play Carnage 2nd single “You would want that†on the radio. That single ended up getting played at radio stations throughout the east coast and even in the UK. He believes that real hip-hop needs to bought back to the forefront or corporate America will continue to destroy the art form. Carnage is on a mission to revive the girl that Common once loved. Will he succeed…… only time will tell
