Nandita Dias began her vocal training with Indian Classical singing and went on to train in Western Classical music. She found her natural talent and artistic passion in jazz. Today she sings in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Indian languages. This dynamic young woman has been performing since the tender age of ten. She is also a song writer and has a variety of original material.
Nandita's original compositions are a blend of western and eastern music. She composes or arranges a jazz or blues tune with an Indian extension that consists of a raga that resonates with Hindi lyrics that capture the ethos of the English composition. Both genres are framed side by side to offer a unique aesthetic experience.
Nandita is always eager to share her talent with an audience. She has dazzled audiences in Canada, The United States, India, Dubai and Costa Rica. Nandita has appeared at a variety of venues such as Yonge-Dundas Square, the C.N.E., the Courthouse, Harbourfront, Roy Thompson Hall, Plaza Flamingo, the Arbor Room, Blue Mountain, The University of Toronto, The University of Sherbrooke (Québec), Jazz Café (Costa Rica), Starters and More (Bombay), Jazz by the Bay (Bombay), Lennox Lounge (Harlem), and Biddles Jazz Club (Montréal). She organizes and participates regularly in charity and cultural endeavors.
